Dr. Naomi Ruth Rappaport, MD

I saw Dr Rappaport many years ago (approx 10 years or so) as a new patient (I needed a primary care physician and she was taking new patients). She was extremely, extremely RUDE, HARSH AND JUST BARBARIC!!! She did nothing but totally insult me over and over about my weight... and yes I know I am overweight but I did not need to be put down about it to the degree that she was putting me down for it and I was only about 25-30lbs overweight, not 100 or 130 like she was making me feel. AND, SHE IS (or at least was)OVERWEIGHT HERSELF!! She did make this comment to me "I know what you're thinking that I'm no skinny minney myself, but I am making an effort. Like I'm eating yogurt for lunch" Really? Like just eating that one yogurt for lunch that day was going to help her lose weight. She never asked me about my medical history or if I was having any issues at that time... I was so horrified and literally left in tears. Needless to say, I immediately withdrew from her practice and… found myself a new primary care doctor who NEVER mentioned anything about my weight. I have never to this day been as humiliated, offended, or demeaned in the way Dr Rappaport had done to me that day. It was absolutely horrible and I would not recommend her to anyone... and I truly feel sorry for the patients she may have now. I can't comment on the office staff or ease of appt, etc. because I only saw her that one time, but felt it was such a bad experience, that I needed to share it with everyone.

Staff got me in within 5 minutes after I finished filling out paperwork. They told me it was a very slow day and not to expect that everyday. Well, Dr. Rappaport had another story, telling me to hurry up and tell her quickly only the most important things that were bothering me (after waiting 4 months to see her for an initial visit - I deserve more time with a doctor). I could barely spit out one problem and before I could describe the symptoms she would say, "okay, next."She wrote out a couple of referrals and said she would see me in a year....no physical, nothing. She only listened to my chest and lungs. (but according to the staff, I was on the chart for a Pap smear - so YES SHE DID HAVE TIME). She just didn't want to waste her time with me. I am very disappointed. She was pleasant, and I was in return, thanking her for seeing me, but she passed me off as I was no concern of hers, and that was extremely unprofessional, and I will not go back next year.
