Dr. Narmatha Arichandran, MD

I had gone to Dr. Arichandran last minute for some school forms to be filled. I had called ahead and asked if this was possible and they assured me it was considering this was my first time meeting her since my other pediatrician of many years had left the practice. Upon meeting I explained the need for testing accommodations and explains and showed my previous pediatrician has no problem or issue signing it in the past. She then Proceeds to change the topic every time I asked about the forms and if she required more information from like asking me about my sexual history and if I drink or not. I did not feel like I was heard in this appointment and at the end of the day despite more than 8 years of medication records with the practice and showing the approval of previous accommodations. She refused to help me with my forms as she claims one check up isn’t enough to fill out the forms. Even though the staff told me a checkup would be sufficiently since they had all my medical records.… I will definitely not be returning.

Dr. A. is a very gentle, caring, and thorough pediatrician!

Dr. Arichandran had been my child's pediatrician since the last 10 years. She is an excellent doctor for my daughter. She has excellent diagnostic skills with great bedside manners! She not only gives medical advise but age appropriate grooming and other advises to clueless moms! She is not judgmental at all, and I feel totally comfortable asking her anything health , social or grooming related questions! Doctor Arichandran remembers everything that we told her from an year ago. My daughter threw a huge fit to wear the paper gowns that they gave her when we went for her 8th year well child visit and doctor Arichandran remembered it a year after where she checked not with me but my daughter to see if she was okay this time to wear the paper gown! that goes to show that Doctor A. really respects a child's opinion and remembers the child's preferences which will only go a long way for the child to respect and trust her doctor into her teenage years as well, which is HUGE for me.

Dr. Arichandran has cared for my 3 children for 17 years. We would never consider anyone else. She is patient, kind, knowledgeable and has a heart of gold. She is the rare physician who takes the time to listen and addresss your concerns. You are more than a number to her. She has seen us through minor sickness to life threatening infections, and everything in between. I cannot speak highly enough of her and what she means to our family.

I saw Dr. Arichandra as a high school student several years ago. I came in with concerns about fatigue, and Dr. Arichandra asked me about my sexual history. I admitted that I had engaged in oral sex with one partner. She jumped to the conclusion that I likely had HIV , and needed to get tested. She offered no other possible causes of my extreme fatigue. In all likelihood, I probably had mononucleosis, or was just run ragged. The fact that she jumped to such a severe prognosis with so little information is troubling, and potentially prejudiced (I'm a black female). I've since been tested for HIV on several occasions and don't have it. My terrible experience with Dr. Arichandran has sparked several years of distrust of doctors.

I went to Dr. Arichandran several years ago at Capital Care. I had one incident when I was fifteen and disclosed that I was feeling fatigued for several months. One of the questions Dr. Arichandran asked me was if I was sexually active, and I admitted that I engaged in oral sex with my boyfriend at the time. Of all the possible causes of fatigue, she was convinced that I had possibly contracted HIV and strongly suggested that I get tested. There was no mention of anemia, mono, or any other common issue. I have reason to believe that my race (I am African-American) was a major factor in her prognosis, i.e. that she assumed I was promiscuous. I have been tested for HIV twice since then, and am still negative. Needless to say, this experience has made me very distrustful of doctors.
