Dr. Nathan James Hildebrant, MD

Steven Matous, MD, has worked as a general surgeon in the Portland/Vancouver area since 1996. Dr. Matous is the Director of the Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy Program for Legacy Transplant Services. In addition he works at Southwest Medical Group Surgical Specialists.
Dr. Matous graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M University and went on to earn his M.D. degree at Baylor College of Medicine. While completing his surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Dr. Matous served as the Chief Surgical Resident. Along with his core surgical training, this program exposed him to advanced breast cancer care, intensive care medicine, colorectal surgery, and trauma surgery. Subsequently, he undertook advanced training in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Maryland Baltimore. Here he gained experience in laparoscopic surgeries such as antireflux surgery, colon removal, hernia repair, and kidney removal for transplantation . He was also trained in …gastrointestinal endoscopy (i.e. colonscopy and upper endoscopy).
With fellowship training in both Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery, Dr. Matous specializes in abdominal surgery with an emphasis on laparoscopic procedures. The procedures include minimally invasive surgery treatment for GERD, hernias, and various other surgeries. He has served as Chairman of the General Surgery Division, Chief of Surgery, Hospital Executive Committee Member, and Board Member for the Southwest Medical Group.
