Dr. Nathaniel Kim Clark, MD

I feel obligated to write this to spare anyone else what I went through. I went to this doctor voluntarily years ago, and it was the worst experience of my life. I received no actual behavioral counseling or help from him, only medication that made me feel far worse. (I received this treatment at Vanderbilt Hospital.) When I felt I wasn't getting the kind of help I needed, I asked for a second opinion and was denied this. I asked for an advocate and was also denied. I was coerced (a.k.a. forced) into taking medication without being given options or information about side effects. I felt this doctor had no empathy. The only time he appeared to listen to me with kindness at all was when relatives were in the room. In addition, bloodwork pointing to a different diagnosis (and therefore an entirely different treatment) was disregarded by this doctor. I also asked for additional tests to rule out brain injury because I had had a severe concussion shortly before entering the… hospital, yet, even though I had insurance, I was told the tests I asked for weren't necessary. Basically, every opinion I had about my own needs, emotions, and physical health were ignored entirely, and I was given (foracbley) medication that made me feel completely miserable, did not even help any of my symptoms, in fact gave me new and worse ones (and this was ignored also.) I honestly consider this experience to have been psychological torture.

Newton-Wellesley Hospital ushered me into a world where reality existed not only in my surroundings but the world was inside “my mind” Dr. Clark was keen to treat my co-morbid disability urgently. I felt as though the ward was a painful place. The most painful place could be a world in me ten years down the line where I was to sick to leave any hospital bed, or even speak. Thank you, Dr. Clark.
