Dr. Nayna Harjivan Navik, MD

Not quite sure what’s going on with Nayna Navik. During our Telehealth appointment I asked a few questions which she couldn’t seem to answer and instead she became very defensive and hostile toward me. She told me to “be still” so she could speak and when I did so, she waved at the camera and ended the video call. I hope she’s ok because this was the most bizarre medical “appointment” I’ve ever experienced. Dr. Navik is not equipped to serve the public and is a stain on Northwestern Medicine’s reputation. She does not possess the skillset to effectively diagnose and communicate calmly and effectively. She seems somewhat irrational and a bit overwhelmed in her practice. Perhaps a lab setting would be a preferred choice for her?

I had the misfortune of being assigned to Dr. Navik at VA hospital, Chicago, thankfully on a temporary basis. In our initial meeting and a brief, subsequent message chat thread, and as agreeing one other reviewer observed, she was rude, incredibly condescending, and utterly incapable of seeing the point of view of a patient. I filed a complaint with VA and asked to be redirect to another primary care provider. In 23 years of being a patient with VA, I've never had such a regrettable experience. I have no question she is extremely competent, but Lord help you if she treats you like a POS and you have the audacity to complain about it. Looking forward to a transfer elsewhere. The other negative reviewer was spot on.

Dr. Navik is educated, very personable, professional and extremely thorough, but tactful and patient as well. She has been my physician for at least 3 years, and I would highly recommend her. I seriously differ with another reviewer who criticized her. I have NEVER, EVER observed or experienced Dr. Navik act in anything other than a highly competent, caring, and professional manner, even when she is faced with a difficult patient. She does not talk down to her patients or co-workers, and in fact, she can explain things very well both to a layman like myself or to someone like my daughter, who has a background in medicine. She is excellent at conveying test results in a timely manner and following up on issues. Her diagnoses are highly accurate and she has caught issues that other Drs. outside the VA have missed. She is courteous, prompt, and spends time listening to the patients needs, treating them in relation to their whole mental and physical condition. Because of her… excellent and thorough care, I have recommended my son-in-law to her, and he also shares my experience and impression of Dr. Navik.

Extremely rude and combative as well as condescending. Would not listen to complaint and was dismissive. She would ask questions in an aggressive manner and then interrupt when one tried to answer. Very upsetting experience.
