Dr. Neal S Blank, DO

New patient visit to him. He obviously did not read my medical history, medication list, allergies, or any of the blood work copies I provided. He came into the room having apparently already decided what he was going to tell me to do without even talking to me. He was brusque and rude, and cut me off when I tried to explain anything. Told me my previous doctor was absolutely wrong about saying I have pre-diabetes and kept saying "You are diabetic!" as if it was an accusation. (He neglected my A1C that shows me as pre-diabetes.) Pushed at me to get a colonoscopy, telling me I was "stupid" for not wanting one. (There's a stool sample test that can be done, since so many people don't want a colonoscopy.) Changed my medication from Losartan to Lisinopril (which he called a medication for diabetes when it's actually an anti-hypertensive). I called the next day and talked to his assistant and told him I didn't want the Lisinopril. (My larynx is extremely damaged so the last thing… I need is a side-effect of cough.) The assistant immediately became very defensive and kept insisting I HAD to have told the doctor Lisinopril or he wouldn't have renewed my prescription for that. (I had given them a typed list of my medications in addition to filling it out on the paperwork.) Said he would discuss it with the doctor and call me back. When he called back -- a week later -- he said the doctor wanted a list of my medications. When I reminded him I had given them that list, he said the doctor wanted an "updated" list. By that time, I had already made an appointment to go back to my M.D. in Glendale, so I told the assistant to forget it. If Dr. Blank had let me talk, I would have told him the things above in parentheses. I guess he'd be okay for someone who doesn't want to discuss anything and just wants a doctor who will talk down to them and give them commands.

If you need to be treated would not recommend you going to him oushes you off on other drs will not help you and does not listen no compassion

He does have a rather condescending approach and attitude. His staff is friendly and it's easy to get an appointment.

I have had trouble finding decent doctors in the high desert. Barstow has none. Dr. Blank seems to be knowledgeable, and I have been happy with him..

Dr. Blank was genuinely interested in my medical issues and helped me better understand how to take my medications and reduce side effects. Perfect bedside manner. This is really busy office, so you will probably have to wait a few extra minutes, but totally worth it! EXCELLENT BEDSIDE MANNERS!

Unprofessional

What a jerk. He is very rude, and spoke to me as if I were bothering him with my appointment. He didn't really care why I was there, only wanted to give out medication which I didn't need.

Dr Blank is a nice enough person but i feel his explanation of the diagnosis was sadly lacking. I have been for 3 followups and still do not have the information i feel should have been provided when i was first diagnosed. I will give him a little more time since our relationship is new.

I was very offended by Dr. Blank's superior attitude. Instead of listening to what I had to say, he ignored everything and treated me like an inferior. His pompous demeanor made him very standoffish and his refusal to listen made me feel like I was talking to a brick wall. Overall his lack of compassion and concern caused for the worst experience with a doctor I've ever had.
