Not compassionate Basically told my mother you could do treatment if you weren’t weak You cancer isn’t curable and it would be ok to stop treatment but she isn’t Getting any He went by medical records from prior months never did his own and for I formation wrong Sent her home with a death slip !

When my mother was diagnosed with stage iv lung cancer, we were given Dr. Ready as her oncologist. He was clownishly bombastic from the start. I asked to speak to him in private, per my mother's request, he was clearly put out at the time that he needed to take with me, and in a frustrated tone said, "I'll have to tell her the same thing!" He told me that he would do "chemo light" on my mother. That was it. I said, "what about genetic testing? what about immunotherapy?" He said the tests he'd done ruled out genetic mutations, AND she didn't qualify for immunotherapy. I said, "why chemo LIGHT?" and he said dismissively, "She's 85 years old." I said, "She's my mother." I immediately pulled her out of his care, as clearly this narcissist wasn't interested in healing an elderly woman. I took my mother to Yale, where she has a team of energetic, passionate doctors. Turns out, she DID have rare genetic mutation. She's taking a pill, twice daily--that's it--for her treatment. Today we learned… that her tumors had shrunk to HALF their size. We go back in three months. She's on the mend. AVOID Dr. Neal Ready.

Dr Ready is extremely knowledgeable and will explain anything you need to know in detail. He is also honest in his assessment of how treatment is working and what to expect. The only downsides are that he often is very busy and seems rushed and can be a bit abrupt in his manner. He works with really great nurses and a fantastic nurse practitioner.
