Dr. Ned Irwin Zallik, MD

My wife and I have been under the care of Dr. Ned Zallik for the last ten years as our PCP at Lake Forest Hospital. As a scientist and medical science professor, I had worked at the department of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, and the department of Medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. We had excellent physicians in these two places. However, since moving to Illinois, we found that Dr. Ned Zallik is exceptional compared to other excellent doctors in care for the patients. He is compassionate, empathetic and has a heart of affectionate caring for all his patients. He is thoroughly knowledgeable and up to date on physiology, metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and geriatric issues and he takes time with every patient. His demeanor, and professionalism are matchless with an excellent character and exemplary conduct. My wife, who has been a Research Scientist both at the University of Pennsylvania and University of Michigan Medical Schools for over a combined 40 years… of service, who helped several physicians in their research, developed health issues and has been under the care of Dr. Zallik for the last ten years. She had mitral valve replaced twice (in 2012 and 2021), high blood pressure, diabetes and other complications. With all these complications she is alive because of his excellent care, along with our dependence on and prayers to the Almighty God. It is highly likely that Ned Zallik is a good physician. I've heard good things and he gets good reviews. The office policies are something else, though. I was admitted to his practice several years ago and had an appt with him, only to find out at the last minute that I was going to see the PA, Liz Vollmer. She was OK, nothing really special, but nice. Just didn't care for the last minute switch. The office also seems to have a policy that they prefer to send you to urgent care if you report something that just crops up. Not sure why. To make more money? To cover their butts? I'm an MD. I have diagnosed poison ivy in others, I have had poison ivy twice, and I sat among poison ivy by accident last year. So, I was POSITIVE I had poison ivy and I asked for one week of prednisone. I was given the choice of going to urgent care (what a joke, so they can tell me what I already know?) or telehealth. I got Prednisone elsewhere. This time was even worse....I am positive for… Covid as of last night. I have mild symptoms. Again, I am an MD...I don't need somebody to help me diagnose myself, and I know I am not in any trouble at this time. What did the PA, Liz Vollmer, instruct the nurse to tell me? Go to urgent care. Really? So I can risk spreading Covid to people in the building or risk contagion from other people's illnesses? We ALL know to isolate!!!!!! This is the most stupid thing I've heard of from a doctor's office. I wanted Paxlovid, and instead I dropped these clowns and got a prescription elsewhere. If somebody has mild Covid (like me...a bad cold) and is told to go to urgent care, I would advise not to listen to bad medicine. I'm truly furious. What in the world is wrong with medicine in this country?

I have been a patient for almost as long as Dr. Zallik has been practicing medicine. At one time or another he has taken care of my immediate family. He is without a doubt the most caring and kind doctor. He is a great diagnostic doctor who really cares about the whole patient. I would never, ever go to any other doctor unless Dr. Zallik referred me to him or her for a second opinion.

Dr. Zallik is an excellent physician. He not only has a great personality, which makes speaking with him a more comfortable one, but he is quite knowledgeable and not only acts on what is necessary for his patients wellbeing, he explains things as he goes. The only thing i dislike (the proper word would be hate) is that with this entire overwhelming medical 'group' one cannot call into the doctors office directly. One must first go thru a bank of operators who take your message and then, one hopes, imparts that information thru computer to his office and they then call you back. To me, it is quite disconcerting to deal with a medical office in this manner, adds totally unnecessary stress to my life, but it is the only way to get thru to him or any in that group. I would recommend Dr. Zallik to anyone who is looking for a complete package in a medical professional.

Unusually caring, smart, wonderful physician. Really like him

Dr. Zallick is a fine doctor. He is friendly, considerate of my mom's input, and takes his time. However I have a problem with him that will probably lead me to find another physician. He NEVER returns phone calls. The nurses that call him for my mother do not receive return phone calls, when I state it is extremely important that I speak with him he does not return phone calls, and clients that I have that also use Dr. Zallick for their parents say the same thing..No return phone calls when a person is geriatric and the information may be critical is inexcusable no matter how nice the doctor is. Dr. Zallick, you absolutely must correct this as it is a big problem for me and others

Dr. Zallik has been my doctor for the past 25 years, I have followed from different locations where he on staff. I can only tell the truth about this person is that he is a wonderful doctor that really cares about his patients like their his own family. - VERY RESPECTFUL AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. like I said. Dr. Ned Zallik is the best doctor.

Dr Zallik was recommended to me by er. nurses, 20 years ago. They were right.My husband & I have been growing old w/ him ever since. He's kind, trustworthy, highly intelligent and a loving father.He has to be the best b/c we trust him w/ our lives.I'll always remember his sweet dispostion when I had to complain to him those midnights I suffered w/ my gall bladder. Thank you for everything, Dr Z- you're the best.

Dr. Zallik is a truly caring and compassionate professional. When my husband was relocated to Michigan, I really regretted having to leave this doctor behind. He really is 1 in a million.

Dr. Zallik is indeed what the other patients have said. He cares about his patients, doesn't talk down to me and gives me options, which we discuss together. Having quite a few chronic conditions does not make me the easiest patient, having him as my physician makes the day to day handling of my conditions easier and has bettered my quality of life.
