I have a painful wisdom tooth that needed removal. Scheduled in advance, arrived, took x-rays, met with the Doctor, examined my teeth, and was told about the next step of gas and novacane...but then, the dental hygienist entered with clipboard in hand, and was shown how much insurance would cover, (I was told 80% by staff) which equated to approximately $1500, and a balance which would need to be paid in full $500, BEFORE the procedure could begin, all while sitting in the dental chair, wondering how many injections I'm going to receive! I asked them to send me a bill for what the insurance company didn't cover, like every Medical establishment. But in this case, Bianca the office manager, stated that it must be paid in full. When I mentioned that they could send me the bill, she began to negotiate a down payment! If I could pay half now and bill the rest?!?! When I insisted that they could just bill me the full amount since Insurance was paying 80%, the office manager smugly continued… to say pay half now and we can continue. What kind of establishment is this? Why not discuss payments/insurance while in the lobby filling out paperwork? In the end I was denied the procedure, and was in more pain leaving due to the probing the Doctor did, rudely treated and embarrassed by the office and medical staff (The Doctor seemed to avoid any involvement, when I asked for her to be involved, she stated, "Sorry, that's how it is."). I am currently awaiting to be contacted by Bianca's boss, Christine. PS. I was told as I was leaving that I would have to pay for the xray that was completed and that they would be sending me a bill!
