Dr. Nehama Dresner, MD

Terrible human being. I witnessed her yelling at a patient over the phone right in front of me. Rude rude rude and she sees you to only throw what you tell her back to your face. Rude Rude Rude! Psychotic Psychiatrist!

Be careful with this woman. Very toxic. Only wants your money.

A couple of years ago after experiencing two milestone personal losses in my life in a very short period of time, I sought out Dr. Dresner for grief counseling, as she had previously successfully treated one of my family members for some ongoing mental health issues. This has been my first experience with mental health treatment and one of the things that I have learned first-hand is that the therapist-patient relationship is a unique one, much different in many ways than most other doctor-patient relationships. I believe that finding a therapist who is a good fit is imperative if the therapy is to take hold and deliver actionable value. I have found Dr. Dresner to be a really good fit for me for the following reasons: 1) She has great insight, and has frequently been able to connect dots in what I thought were very disparate parts of my life, which has led me to new insights about myself. 2) She is unafraid to tell the truth, even when she knows that speaking that truth won’t… sit well with me and will probably lead to some pushback or conflict. 3) She has cheered my small victories along this road and offered lots of positive reinforcement in those situations (something that I really appreciate). 4) She allows for disagreement; thus we have had multiple conversations about why I disagree with her assessments or opinions. I have found those conversations in and of themselves to be very instructive. 5) She cares and she takes her job very seriously. In my opinion, her job is not to make me feel good about myself as is. Her job is to help me to see myself more clearly and to make myself a better person. And that doesn’t happen without a lot of self-examination, which is sometimes extraordinarily painful, and being honest with oneself. Change is difficult. There are lots of different types of people in the world, and each type needs to seek out the sort of mental health professional who would work best for them. If you are the type of person who might respond better to a mental health professional who is more on the soft-spoken, reticent or quiet side, or who isn’t extremely direct and forthright from the jump, then Dr. Dresner might not be the right fit for you. But if…and this is a big if, because this isn’t easy…you are at a place in your life where you are ready and able to take constructive criticism to heart in an effort to make yourself a better, more integrated and balanced human being, if you are at a point where you can take a good, cold, hard look at yourself and your relationships, and if you are willing to invest the time, money and effort that it takes to effect positive and meaningful change in your life, then Dr. Dresner might be the perfect fit for you. Working with her through this incredibly difficult period in my life has made all of the difference.

Dr. Dresner provided the best guidance when I needed it the most - she’s very straightforward; if she pushes, it is because she wants the best for her patients based on her clinical judgment and experience. In follow up meetings, we assess progress together. She takes responsibility into checking that all is well at every visit, and I am appreciative of that.

Dr. Dresner provided me with the right cocktail of meds I've needed for years. She is direct and supportive. She pushes me to help myself and is one of the best therapists I've ever seen. I'm very grateful for her support.

Avoid this doctor like the plague, unless you actually want to feel belittled and worse about yourself. She's rude, downright mean and condescending. Not helpful at all and only wants to make money by making you come every week for a 15 minute check in that she bills hundreds of dollars for. Find someone in town who actually cares about your needs and health - Dr. Dresner does not.

Will charge you the full amount even if you cancel two days in advance.

There was no sign or sense of concern of my condition. It seemed as if she was in a hurry to get my money and not help me find a solution. I was looking forward to seeing here more until she treated me like I didn't matter unless I was a female.

Nehama is knowledgeable, honest, direct and helpful. I went to her for a one time assessment, as I could not afford to see her on an ongoing bases. Nehama offered understanding and insight, and I felt that she genuinely cared that I get the help I need, even though I would not be continuing with her. She referred me to another psychiatrist and had me see an on staff therapist who helped me look into seeing a someone who would take my insurance. She did a lot more than my one time visit demanded.

Very gruff and judgmental. Actually made me feel WORSE! Went three times.
