Dr. Neil B. Callister, MD

I had a ganglion cyst removed from my right wrist back in '92 By Dr. Allison and would have gone to him because the cyst never returned and the scar is seamless - he really did an amazing job, but unfortunately he had passed away. So I searched out my other options and found Dr. Bryan...and every time I look at the hack-job scar on my wrist I wish I had NEVER found him! Due to Dr. Bryan's lack of care and concern to do the job correctly, the cyst was back in 6 short months. Luckily I found Dr. Callister and I wish I had found him before finding Dr. Bryan. Dr. Callister was awesome! I can't even find the scar half the time and have never had any issues with the cyst returning since my surgery back in 2007. He worked with me and was kind and understanding due to my financial situation and not having insurance at the time. He took time to listen and also enlighten me with information that explained some things. He really was amazing and I hold nothing but the highest of respect… for him as a man and a surgeon. If ANYONE out there is looking for an Orthopedic Surgeon find Dr. Neil Callister at the Intermountain Calton-Harrison Clinic. He is amazing and you will not regret it, he had only the BEST training....I later found out he studied under Dr. Allison. ;)

My daughters appointment with Dr. Callister was in July. After reviewing her joint pain, the Dr. stated an MRI was needed and that his staff would set up the time. When we left the waiting room we did exactly that, met with his person and have never heard from that office again. A follow up call was made, message was left but again no call back. We paid our co-pay and he has billed our insurance for the office visit but there has been no follow up, aside from us trying to get ahold of him. I would not recommend this physician. Yes, my view is the Dr is accountable for his staff.

I was pleased with his care concerning my elbow fx/dislocation in 2009. He explained the situation to me,answered questions, gave me a few scenarios about my possible recovery, and helped me understand what needed to be done to get my range of motion back. The wait times were reasonabl-good orthopedic surgeons are extemely busy,i knew that going in,but as long as they will spend time w/you when its your turn,then im happy,and he did that.

I saw Dr. Callister in the summer of 2009 for a tibial plateau fracture. He was referred by the ER physician.In fact at my first appt. Dr. Callister said that he specialized in surgery of the hands and wrists (which begged the question in my mind,'So why are you taking me on as a patient, then?') While Dr. Callister is knowledgeable and professional, my opinion is that I was not pleased at all with the overall care I received. First, it's hard to schedule an appt. Then you wait for long periods of time in the waiting room and office. Then, when he did come in, I felt rushed through each appointment. Further, I found him gruff (again, my opinion). I found that in my case, he didn't take a lot of time to explain issues and considerations, much less answer my questions to my satisfaction. I will always remember when he told me at one appt. that a question and concern I had about my injury was "irrelevant." After that, I conducted Internet searches for the particular questions I had.… Then, there's the billing, which, in my opinion, seemed high. In the end, once I was able to place weight on my broken knee, I ceased going to Dr. Callister. I never received a follow up phone call to see why I hadn't kept my last few appts. or even to see how I was doing.
