Dr. Neil Ravin, MD

He listens and he's up to date. He uses what he's read to inform me as a patient about how thinking has changed. He is open minded and asks me what I want to do. He is very good at thyroid sonograms and fine needle aspirations but he doesn't do tests just to do them. He once told me, "Boys who have toys want to play with them. We have to be careful we are not doing tests just because we can." He explains most things with a whiteboard talk. He's very down to earth.

Dr Ravin is a rareity in that he is interested in the whole patient, not just his own sub-specialty. He listens, and responds with accuracy. One of the best.

Unrushed. High standards of practice.

You might have to wait a bit but only because he gives each patient as much time as s/he needs. He is like what all physicians should be: smart, patient, observant, open-minded, thorough, a great listener--and a decent human being. I went to him for about 15 years and only stopped because i moved away(and even then, I drove several hours once a year to see him until this got difficult). My husband also saw him for the same 13 years and found him to be an excellent doctor. Even now, when I call with a question, he is happy to help. They don't make them like this anymore.
