Dr. Neil H. Segal, MD, PhD

We found Dr. Segal does not exhibit empathy or concern for his patient(s). His office always runs behind schedule and does not seem prepared when he enters a patient's room. He pretty much runs on "status quo". We found him to use the word "chemo" for future or all treatment plans. He gives you the impression he does not think outside the box and lacks to communicate cutting edge treatments currently available. He is very slow to make a referral to the many specialists within the MSK network. As a patient you have to do your own research and ASK the office to submit a referral. We would highly suggest finding another medical oncologist to achieve better survivor results.

Wait time in the patient reception area and in exam room are too long. Does not thoroughly explain recommendations. Will answer some questions but stands up when he feels appointment is over. He dismisses a lot of comments you say. In last year he is not thoroughly prepared for appointment.

The waiting time often exceeds an hour. When he does show up for the appointment, he doesn't apologize for the wait time and spends 2 minutes with you. He recommended a drastic change of treatment course, and when I asked why, he replied that he thinks this new suggested treatement course is best. And when I asked why he thought it better, he just replied again that he thought it would be best. I'm sorry, but that is not an answer, and I shouldn't be treated as if I'm incapable of understanding why he thinks a particular treatment course is preferable. The other doctors on the team eventually had him revert back to the original course of treatment.

Dr. Segal is dedicated to helping patients survive cancer. He is highly rated amongst here peers. I am certein I am getting the best treatment available anywhere.

I have waited up to three hours to see Dr Segal during a regular follow-up visit. I never waited less than 45 minutes. But who knows -- emergencies do happen and maybe there were sicker or more needy people than I there on those days. He is professional and talented as a clinican, but doesn't seem to know what to do with the PERSON in front of him. Love his staff, and the care I got from the team was excellent.
