Dr. Newton P. Muthunayagam, MD

I first saw Newton in his office to schedule an upper GI was told he was going to fill a prescription I had to call the office back the next day to find out where it was I was told they would check with the doctor It took until the next week to be filled I then went in for the upper GI and was told the doctor would be out to see me after the procedure When I woke up I waited for an hour and a half and still no doctor The nurse felt bad and reviewed the procedure report and told me I had an esophagus biopsy and another in my stomach which concerned me but still had no doctor to fill me inI called his office when I got home and was told they would have the doctor call me That was two days ago and I still have what I feel are important questions to ask this guy As far as I?m concerned after get my questions answered I?ll find another doctor I definitely don?t recommend Dr Newton unless you don?t need to know what?s going on with your health

Husband lived through years of pain and tests and no one giving him answers after multiple hospitalizations. PC sent us to Dr. Newton and he was able to do testing (invasive) that allowed him to find the causes of the pain (Gallbladder despite two other doctors missing it, then a damaged pancreatic duct from living w/damaged gallbladder for so long.) He set us up with a great surgeon to do the GB surgery, and later did the ductal bypass himself. He gave my husband his life back.

I was referred to Dr. Newton for a colonoscopy. Scheduling was easy, and the staff was very accommodating. The office was easy to find, and parking was good. Everything went really smooth. He was very kind and understanding of my anxiety about the procedure, and spent time explaining every detail to ease my nerves. His staff was very nice. The procedure went well, staff there was nice as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Newton

I have seen many GI doctors, trying to figure out the source of my pain, no one was able to figure it out until I saw Dr. Newton. He was able to figure out what was causing it, and I am extremely grateful. His staff was very kind to me on the phone and in the office.

Please, listen to me. If I could give this man a "0," I would. He is rude, judgemental, bigoted and without skill.

After the results of my colonoscopy were negative he offered no explanation for the episodes of severe pain, vomiting and diarrhea I had been having. One of which was just days before my follow up appointment. asked him about it twice and he did not suggest any tests or further action. I asked him to put in writing the medication instructions (I live in a skilled nursing facility and they must have instructions in writing) and he took the paper, but did not write the complete instructions,causing me to miss a full day of my medication. I brought test results from my facility and he did not even look at them.

My first experience with him was not a good one. He walked in the room, told me what procedure I needed and walked out without giving me time to ask questions. I figured he was the expert so I followed through. The procedure did reveal some problems which explained the horrible pain I was in. I was in so much pain, I could hardly function. I'm not one to ask for anything for pain, but I did this time. I was told by his secretary, Nancy, that he does NOT prescribe pain medicine. I was horrified that I would have to suffer even longer. It takes WEEKS to schedule procedures so I was in pain for WEEKS! I have never had a Dr. with less empathy than Dr. Newton. I'm sure if it was his wife/ GF/ sister/ mother in that kind of pain, he would have stepped in to help. After a procedure, the medical staff showed me what he wrote for a diagnosis but he told me something quite different. I was totally confused and worried about how the pain would be relieved and my condition fixed. I… would not have gone back to him but unfortunately, he is the only Dr. that I'm aware of that performs certain procedures. I do not plan to see him again unless my life depends on it. I plan to do some research to find a Dr. with some empathy and someone who genuinely cares about their patients; not a dr who is only concerned about the money.

He is really good, and obviously knows what he's doing

He has very poor bedside manner. Was told I had an 11am appointment for results of a procedure he performed. He walked in the room at 12:15. Spent about 5 minutes. Little explanation of anything and then turned me over to the secretary. Did not even come back into the room. To say the least I was NOT impressed with him.
