Dr. Ngoc Patrick Van Nguyen, MD

When I first met Dr. Nguyen in 2004, I was unhappy-referred by my PCP after a GI workup that diagnosed me with UC. I was not impressed with Dr. Nguyen and expected to wait a few years for surgery which substantially reduces the risk for colon cancer. Months later I returned and I was ready for surgery "yesterday." However I was too ill for surgery. After a few weeks preparation, including 17 days on TPN (I had thought 3 days was adequate) I had my first surgery, a total colectomy and and ileostomy. Four days later I was discharged. It took another year before I was well enough to have my second surgery to revise my ileostomy and create a J-pouch. Following that surgery I was discharged in 5 days. Months later when my ileostomy was taken down and I was in much better health, I was grateful for the skill and management by Dr. Nguyen. Years later, an annual checkup is required for cancer screening, but I have learned that Dr. Nguyen is absolutely the best. When I have my office visits, he… listens, he responds, and now I cannot say enough to express my confidence in his management. He is not only a great surgeon, he is a good friend!
