From the moment I step into his office for a consultation, his staff were very welcoming polite informative . They assisted me step by step through my Bariatric surgery if they didn't have the answer they went and get someone that had the answer I so appreciated that. I and my family thank Dr. Selim and his awesome team and staff for working so brilliantly on my behalf. I am 7 days post-op today and feeling fine still recovering and so exciting looking toward a new and healthy life thanks to Dr. Selim, his team and his staff. The morning of surgery came to me and ask are you ready ? do you have any questions I need to answer for you then he gave me the biggest smile and said then we are ready.

Three weeks ago Dr.Niazy Selim was my surgeon who fixed my hiatal Hernia.The surgery was very smooth, zero pain,and side affects. Within a week of the surgery, I was able to eat normal food without any difficulties in swallowing. No gazes, no acidity or pain beneath my chest, i am PPIS medications free now. He was the best of the best. I recommend him for this type of surgeries and for those who want to loose weight through the Bariatric surgeries.

I started seeing Selim for preop gastric sleeve requirements for medicaid. Medicaid requires 6 mos preop dr supervised, nutrition and weight loss counseling. After my 3rd month appt. My family scheduled a vacation and due to weather, had a delay returning. I knew i was going to miss my appt. with Selim so I called and spoke to his receptionist who informed me that the next available appt was a month away. She also stated that I'd need to start the entire 6 mos process over, bc medicaid required 6 consecutive months of preop (total lie or was just misinformed, medicaid requires 6 mos of preop within a 1 year period, not consecutively) So i explained that and she argued that it wasnt what she was told, with an ugly attitude. I told her that Id talk to the dr when I went in and asked if there was any way that she could squeeze me in anywhere, that basically these appts were just weigh-ins. Her answer was no, again ugly and rude. My appt time came and I spoke briefly to the girl in the… back, who takes vitals and weigh-ins, about my concerns of having to start over, the receptionist attitude and that I wanted to speak with the dr about it. Dr comes in not only totally defending his receptionist, but goes on to tell me that he's considering no longer accepting medicaid patients bc of the abuse given by medicaid patients. That they feel "entitled" and basically they are the ones causing problems. In other words, "my receptionist is right and if you dont like it I can discharge you, btw Im the only dr in La who accepts medicaid so good luck". He was a total jerk. I quickly let him know that medicaid or not, I will not be mistreated. I also stated that he was not my only option, that I would consider Mexico as cash pay. He had the nerve to suggest that I not go to Mexico and gave me a cash price to stay with him. What a joke. You treat your medicaid patients like $h*t and blame the patient bc you're so abused, but my cash is okay? I dont think so. I had already researched Mexico as an option for the past two years and doctors. I knew I was not starting the 6 mos process over with him. The following month, I sent my deposit to my dr in Mexico, scheduled surgery in Nov 2017. I had THE BEST expirience ever. I paid $8900 total, all inclusive and was treated like royalty, no lie. Yes there are cheaper Drs, but this surgeon is 1 of 12 surgeons of excellence in the WORLD and thats who I felt comfortable with. 3 mos postop and Im doing great, have lost 55 lbs and 40 more to go. I dont regret my decision one bit, only wasting my time with Dr. Selim. Drs in Mexico put US drs like Selim to shame. I dont care how you are paying a dr, you deserve respect from him AND their staff. Months later and Selim is still accepting medicaid patients, but they're so abusive. ?? What a joke. He has this attitude and ego that medicaid patients need him, so it doesn't matter how him or his staff treats them. Nope. Mexico is an option for everyone and there are financing options with all or most of their surgeons. Don't be mistreated by these Drs in the US just bc they can.

Dr. Selim did my RNY bariatric surgery in 2008. I continued to do my yearly follow up appts with him. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Selim. I only just found out that he has left KUMC. That is very much a loss. I wish him the best.

Fantastic Doctor! Dr. Selim spent hours on my hernia repair procedure through the use of robotic surgery that many doctors would have shortened by opening me up due to a lot of scar tissue in my abdomen from a former surgery. I feel so blessed and fortunate to have had Dr. Selim as a surgeon. I would highly recommend this doctor.
