You look all over San Diego and other places in California and perhaps the world for a great doctor--- and there he is at Perlman Clinic. Dr. Canelo is a "gold star" doctor that everybody wishes they had. Why is Dr. Canelo so extraordinary? 1.When you go to Dr. Canelo, he sees you as a real human being who is seeking his medical help at the time of your most need. You''re not just another appointment. He takes it to heart and goes to bat for you with thorough attention to your medical issues. He takes time to listen to your concerns and always has recommendations for possible treatments and will make referrals when necessary. When the medical issue is urgent, and requires a specialty doctor, he'll try to get you seen as soon as possible. He is very mindful that way. He shows a lot of regard for his patients. In my estimation, you almost become his child whom he treats with tender loving care and expects others to do the same. I know because that's what I have experienced. 2. … Dr. Canelo is kind, courteous and compassionate -- You get the confidence that he will do everything possible to help you. As his patient for several years, he has been outstanding in helping me to heal and has alleviated my suffering. That has been pure gold for me. Dr. Canelo put every effort in his power to help me when I most need his help. I didn't get that kind of help anywhere else. I believe in Dr. Canelo's wisdom and sincere deep, down caring. I trust him with my health and life. I'm fortunate to be Dr. Canelo's, I wouldn't trade him for the world. 2. Dr. Canelo goes to bat for you immediately. He gives thorough attention to your medical issues and knows what to do. He is most knowledgeable. He never stops learning because he loves to learn. He stays on top of the latests medical advances. Dr. Canelo knows a lot about medicine even in specialty areas. He knows about all the possible ailments that afflict humans. He is a dedicated doctor and scientist. He loves helping people, he demonstrates this with everyone of his patients. In my estimation, his patients are his life apart from his family. Dr. Canelo is a blessing to us from God. Who else you know cares as much about your health and prolonging your life than Dr. Canelo? 3. Dr. canelo always follows up on the results of his referrals. He inquires from me how I'm feeling and how I'm progressing after being seen by his specialty referral. If he feels the results are not the best, he'll arrange for another appointment to see me. I'm always grateful for that. Again, that's pure gold in health care! 4. Dr. Canelo is thorough in my physical examinations. He carefully studies my blood tests, clearly explains them to me and makes recommendations when needed. I always feel so privilege to have such a competent caring doctor as Dr. Canelo. Is there another Dr. Canelo?? God bless Dr. Canelo and grant him a very long healthy life and same to his family. 5. In addition, Dr. Canelo is very astute in hiring in his practice an excellent medical assistant in Jeannette. Jeannette is most caring, efficient and on top of assisting Dr. and his patients. She's kind, courteous and most thoughtful. Jeannette has been prompt in attending to my request to Dr. Canelo. She also follows-up promptly on Dr. Canelo's messages to me. I''m always grateful to her and Dr. Canelo for their thoughtfulness and attention to my medical needs. Thank you Jeanette! Thank you Dr. Canelo! 6. Dr. Canelo, wow can’t thank him enough for what he has done for me, physically and emotionally, going through ups and downs and being a part of my medical life, the unknowns can have it’s affects on you, I’ve never had a question or concern unanswered or unresolved, I have 100% confidence in him and the decision we’ve made, his MA Jeanette deserves a shout out for being helpful and patient, incredible team, I highly recommend Dr. Canelo and the Perlman Clinic.

Dr. Canelo is thorough, well prepared and studies all test results prior to a visit, listens to any concerns, and offers solutions to issues. He doesn't just prescribe a medication for any issue, but rather discusses lifestyle changes/alternatives to tackling a health issue if it makes sense. I have found him to be unique among primary care doctors in that he takes the time to understand his patient's needs, makes sure thorough blood work and any tests are performed that give him the information he needs to make recommendations, and studies all the information prior to an appointment with him so that he has a good "picture of his patient's health status". I find this rare in that he is actually prepared ahead of your appointment and is well informed to discuss your health. He's also listens well and is very engaged during an appointment. I highly recommend him.

A few words that describe Dr. Canelo are that he is attentive, highly perceptive , patient and above all compassionate.I have led a long and healthy life and the annual exams were enough for most years but now that I am in my mid-seventies and different issues are popping up, it is comforting to know that my care is in the best of hands. In a video call yesterday, a list of test results were addressed and Dr. Canelo patiently explained what the different values meant and how they can affect me. When new issues were presented they were addressed and corrective actions were suggested. I am most grateful and feel fortunate that Dr. Canelo is my Primary Care Physician.

Dr. Canelo is a superb physician. Not only does he know his stuff and keep current with his own professional development, he also is personable and has great communication skills. Bottom line...he truly cares about his patients. It is a pleasure to have him as my primary care doctor. Oh yeah, he also listens to your inputs with interest and focus.

Dr. Canelo is absolutely fantastic. He has been my doctor for several years now and I am not planning to ever change again! He takes the time to listen carefully, and has a comprehensive approach to problem solving. He is extremely knowledgeable, and cites the latest studies, explaining different options of treatment carefully and giving pros and cons for each. He provides his expertise, but also allows the patient to be part of the decision making process. His staff follow up promptly, getting referrals and insurance authorizations. Everything is excellent and I can't thank Perlman Clinic enough!

Dr Canelo has been the first one to explain to me all the nuances of controlling my blood sugar, and has provided me assistance with doing this every step of the way. He is helpful, kind, and extremely intelligent. I highly recommend him.
