Dr. Nicholas Clarke Feranec

Had a biopsy for my thyroid with him. The local anesthetic wasn't fully working then he got irritated when I began crying from the pain. The pain got to the point I was about to pass out and throw up. It was extremely painful and as someone with chronic pain the feeling of having a needle digging in my neck tops just about anything else. After I almost passed out he just walked out and said he was done. He had horrible bedside manners, or should I say none at all.

I saw Dr. Feranec in 2012 for a lumbar puncture to see if I needed brain surgery. Having had this done in the past, I knew what to expect-but this was off the chart! He inserted the same needle in my spine 14 times and kept getting increasingly frustrated with ME because he couldn't find where to obtain the spinal fluid. He actually FISHED around in my spine with the needle trying to find it!!! Because he was frustrated I was too petrified to move nor speak. He then went to find someone to 'teach' him how to do it; and while he was being taught. This whole procedure landed me in the ICU for SIX weeks with a staph infection in my spinal fluid and brain. I wanted to press charges, but according to the report, everything was an absolute success and nothing went wrong at all. I never did find out who the other doctor in the room was either- as he was not mentioned in the report! Not to mention, NO one is getting near my spine unless they KNOW what they are doing!! I am NOT making the same… mistake twice!
