Unfortunately, my experience with this doctor has been consistently disappointing. Appointments rarely start on time, with wait times often exceeding 30 minutes—even for early morning visits. Once you're finally seen, the appointment feels rushed and impersonal. The doctor tends to dominate the conversation, offering more monologue than dialogue, and gives the impression of listening just long enough to prepare a generic response. Rather than engaging thoughtfully with my concerns, I was often met with the dismissive phrase, "That's really common, and a lot of people have those," which felt invalidating and unhelpful. I left appointments with more questions than answers, and without a clear plan for addressing my symptoms. I would not recommend this provider to those seeking a thoughtful, attentive, or patient-centered approach to care.

Dr. Gates is the most experienced and well-known ankle surgeon in the tri-state. A leader in ankle replacement surgery, my surgery was a success and I couldn’t feel better! I have been told by other medical staff that he was performing ankle replacement surgeries 12-15 years before other surgeons in the tri-state. He is personable and committed to his patients’ health. His staff is the most kind and efficient I’ve seen.dr. Gates keeps up on the latest technology, using an AI computer to transcribe his appointments.

Dr Gates is a very laid back doctor, he listen and will explain everything you need to know, all around great doctor, Ortho Cincy family is awesome as well. If you need a doctor I recommend him.

Told me what was was wrong and what I need to do to get better. Very helpful. Will go to him again if I need further treatment. In and out in very short time.

Dr. Gates has been a God send for me. Injured my ankle 54 years ago and over the years arthritis has moved in. Dr. Gates has enabled me to remain active as I grow old. Thank You.

Last Saturday, I went into my bedroom,had my work clothes in my arms, I rammed my foot into the steel,my right foot, I heard my own bone crack,not ..a...gopleasant sound or feeling, so not a good sound and definitely not a good feeling, I'd rather give birth..so I ended up going to St.Elizabeth urgent care in Union, they took an X-ray and said I'd need another one due to the fact that my baby toe curls under my 4th toe, i made an appt at Ortho Cincy for Monday, he didn't look at my foot..just said it will just heal on its own..i said I think its broke on top..he said it just feels like it because your toes are broke, im sorry yes, he did touch my foot lol..he pushed down on it, on a few area, so, no, new X-ray, im in really bad pain..im doing what he suggested, icing, etc..he gave me 10 percocet 5mg, I took them, I feel like I possibly have some small fractures in my foot other than my toes, so back ill go, another appt..and no refill on pain meds, why should I be in pain, the only… time I do any narcotics is when I absolutely have too, and this is an example..thanks to the ones who dabble with heroin, I have to suffer more than need be, im in pain, and I'm unhappy, I feel like he didn't have the time or concern for me...
