Dr. Nicholas Roy Goucher, MD

I believe Dr. Goucher"s skill as a surgeon is good but his bedside manner and interest in patients is VERY poor. Long waits in office to be seen, many times 45 minutes to an hour plus and when you finally see Dr Goucher he is too busy to discuss any issue. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Goucher fixed my 1st botched achilles tendon surgery followed by 3 more foot surgeries including screws in my feet. He's an excellent Dr. He's very quick moving and a matter of fact kind of Dr. when talking to you but he knows what he's doing and gets the job done & does it well.

Dr. Goucher did surgery on my foot, taking out a neuroma, which left me in nerve pain for the last 3 years.

Dr. Goucher performed ankle fusion surgery on my left ankle in April. My ankle is not a typical ankle. My left foot is a club foot that was treated when I was born in 1960. The surgical treatments in the 1960s involved releasing the foot by cutting a nerve, leaving me with a "drop foot" and a brace. I had a partial fusion performed at age 14. Over the years the ankle became sore, the brace was uncomfortable and I wanted alternatives. A total fusion was an alternative. Dr. Goucher performed the surgery and I am about 5 weeks out now, in an "air caste". I have had no complications, though I expect many more weeks of a caste and many months of slow "rehabilitation". This is a slow process and I know as I have undergone it before, though many years ago. Dr. Goucher had to deviate from a normal approach on my foot during surgery because of the malformations of my foot. His approach is working and the care I have received is good. By the way, every doctor is a human being and… we need to realize that it just takes a little time to understand and like some people. Once we do that, we can discover a very nice person, which is the way you should approach Dr. Goucher. He is a very nice person and it takes a little time to get to know him. He is an excellant surgeon.

Dr. Goucher repaired a tendon and removed an extra bone I had in my foot. He was prompt and friendly and quickly diagnosed problems that others had missed. He gave me treatment options and didn't just get me walking again, I now dance and do yoga better than ever. Every one I dealt with in his office was great.

Terrible experience. I had to wait 50 minutes before being seen by Dr. Goucher and he didn't even acknowledge the fact he was running late. His bedside manner was the worst I have ever experienced. He was detached and could care less about me as a patient. And before my appointment was over, his cell phone rang and he took the call...and just walked out! No follow-up appt., no concern, NO GOOD-BYE! Who does that to anyone?!? Very rude. I read the other reviews and took a chance since he specializes in foot and ankle injuries, but I regret going to him and will have to go to someone else now. What a waste of a co-pay!!

Dr. Goucher seems to feel like he does not need to spend enough time with patients to answer questions and resolve concerns. He rushes from one room to another setting up surgeries and seems to be "knife happy". For simple things I guess he would be ok, but I would absoutely steer away from him for more complicated issues.

Dr. Goucher did not do a good job on me. He also would not listen to me when I tried to get him to understand there was something wrong with the surgical site. He, in fact told me, "I have other patients to see and don't have time for this." I finally found a different Dr. who did listen to me and took care of the infection that Dr. Goucher would not believe existed. I would be extremely cautious if you end up receiving any treatment for him. I think he has the potential to be a good Dr., but his ego gets in the way.

Dr. Goucher is someone to stay away from. He did surgeries on me that were not helpful or needed and neglected to give me the information I di need to make an informed decision. As a result I ended up with significant complications and ended up finding someone else to undo his work. His communication skills are poor and he does not handle it well if you do not recover on his schedule. His inability to provide needed information has made for a complete nightmare for me. This is one surgeon to stay away from.
