Dr. Nicholas Adams Irwin, MD

Dr Irwin was easy to talk to and very informative. He understood my husband’s condition and ordered appropriate tests and treatment.

A loved one was admitted to the ER for a severe mental health emergency (self harm, talk of suicide) and Dr Irwin refused any level of treatment or care, stating "Get her out of my bed, I need it for people who are actually sick." This is unprofessional and downright sick that a doctor would have such an attitude and put the patient at risk of further harm.

I went to ER " stroke center" via ambulance for symptoms of a stroke. This doctor did not think it was such but I knew it was. He disregarded what I said that I suspected stroke. He and his boss argued about DX right in front of me. One said it was suspected stroke and this one insisted it was a seizure. I knew better but he already blew off what I said it was. I know time is of the essence with strokes and IMHO he was slow to treat and DX. It took him 4.5 hrs from onset to diagnose. That meant that it was too late to give the life and brain saving clot busting drug ! It needed to be given within 1 hr of onset ideally but can be given up to 3 hrs of onset. Fortunately, my ischemic stroke did not result in lasting disability. Lucky for him that all the symptoms went away after 4 days and I was discharged. I would have sued if I came away disabled.
