Dr. Nicholas J Kuiper, DO

Dr. Kuiper tended to our Mother (80 yrs old) after she contracted a case of cellulitis in the hospital. We took her to the general practitioner, then a wound center (which was not local), all without the progress we had hoped over a 6-month period. Then, the nurse assigned through Medicare mentioned Dr. Kuiper at Surgical Associates. We followed up. Even though he was doing a different area of medicine, he took on her case and within the first month of his treatments, there was significant improvement in her condition and by 6 months, it had healed. Mother, who does not suffer fools, enjoyed his bedside manner because he talked with intelligence and a focused plan of attack for treating her case vs the others kept saying "we will see and come back". She was having none of that after 6 months and was just going to stop going. Thank goodness for Dr. Kuiper and the nurse who recommended him. Best "Angels" we could have had, especially for we children who all live out of state.

He was forced to leave Cedar Falls after just 4 weeks due to so many complications. Many patients, including myself, are still dealing with problems such as perforation and leakage. I should have been back to work after 2 weeks - it's been 2 months and I'm still trying to recover. Avoid this Surgeon at all costs. I wish someone had warned me, it's been a nightmare.

Dr. Kuiper is an excellent surgeon. He handled my operation with consummate skill and extended every courtesy to me during my visits. He is cordial and professional and answered all my questions succinctly. I would highly recommend him.

I usually *HATE* ER visits, but I am accident prone. To my suprise I went into the Newton Emergency room tonight with a large cut that needed stitches and this doctor could not have been more nice, smart, and had a very great bed side manner, Too bad more doctors arn't like him.
