Dr. Nicholas Henry Maassen, MD

I was seen by Doctor for a Coulated Shoulder with severe theobbing pain. He advised me during the visit that he will prescribe me two medications. One for inflamation and other for pain. Once I we at my pharmacy to pickup medications, there was only one medication ordered (anti inflamatory). No me tion of how to manage my secere pain. I called back at doctor's office and got an answer that thr nurse will call you back which may take upto 2 business days. This was totally unacceptable. I went back to his office and demanded to be clarified about my pain medication. The doctor reluctantly came to reception and lied right on my face that Neproxin which is an Anti Inflamrory medicine in actually my pain medication. There was no note also says anything about pain medicine. Once I asked him again that what will I do for my pain, he replied that I can take a "TYLENOL" for that. Maybe the doctor himself should fo through this excruciating pain then he will start writing some meds to manage… pain too.

Dr. Maassen was so wonderful! He was completely professional and had an amazing bedside manner. He listened to everything that I had to say about what I was feeling. I would recommend him over and over to family and friends. I always expect the best at UTMB and that is what I got!
