Dr. Nicholas Skyba, DO

Bad all around. Saw him because my normal doctor was unavailable. Said that I needed to lose weight for my back problems that were cause from an acute injury. Before my accident I had no chronic back pain. Dismissive, none commutative, and simply a terrible doctor. DONT WASTE YOUR YOUR TIME. I wish I had read some of these reviews before the appointment. He is a joke

I was assigned to meet with Dr. Skyba only due to my doctor's lack of availability today. He's missed appointments twice so far in a single day. Still waiting. Apparently, from reading the reviews here, this is all too common for him. What a waste of time. Pathetic.

Unfortunately he was the only doctor available for a physical to get a prescription renewed. His availability is obvious now, as he was by far the worst doctor I’ve experienced. He did not listen to anything I had to say and made rather insulting suggestions about my exercise and diet (without asking questions). I would never suggest anyone see this doctor. Find a different doctor within the practice. Find a new practice. But do not see him. I wish I could give him 0 or negative stars...that is how strongly I feel about him.

The first time I ever tried to speak to a doctor about my depression, I unfortunately spoke to Dr. Skyba. He told me I was too young to be depressed and that I should try exercising. I had 2 suicide attempts between that appointment and finally talking a REAL doctor who listened to me and offered me actual help. If he doesn't believe mental health issues are real, he should have sent me to another doctor. Awful.

I've been seeing Dr. Skyba at a NCH Medical Group in Arlington Heights, IL and I find him to be great to meet with. He listens; he remembers me (and my husband who's a patient); he's thorough, gives me answers on everything. He also has called me to check on me or give me additional info he's found. We also communicate through NCHmyChart. I've asked about something there and he's called me to talk it over rather than just a message. I'm impressed and surprised that he's calling me himself. I really appreciate his guidance. [I'm wondering if the negative reviews here are all done by the same person because I'm very surprised by the descriptions - it's not the doctor I've seen on at least 10 occasions.]

This is the first time seeing this Doctor and the last time. I have been going to this facility for almost 7 years and have never had a problem with any of the doctors there until today. Dr Skyba II was very rude, sarcastic and condescending. He did absolutely nothing to address my problem. I walked out of the office confused, frustrated and almost in tears. Waste of time and money.

Dr Skyba was extremely rude. He spoke to me in a very patronizing, condescending, and sarcastic manner. Did not listen or answer questions.

i found him to be extremely nice. he talked with me to find out how i was feeling and prescribed a new anti depressant for me. i found him to be very caring. i would definately recommend him.

Someone wrote this review and I have to say that this was my experience too: "Rude, dismissive, talks over you the entire time. I left my appointment far more frustrated than when I went in. Do yourself a favor and see someone else." Because my doctor was off that day I wound up seeing him because I was coughing up mucus and needed to be looked at as I am prone to pneumonia. He said the reason that I was sick was because my diabetes was out of control so it damaged my immune system which is why it was suppressed (actually it is suppressed due to one of my asthma medications). Unfortunately he was looking at my A1C test from May and not the follow-up test that was taken in September and which I had dropped my glucose levels considerably. When I brought this up to him he said maybe he missed seeing that test. So he would understand that I took my diabetes seriously, I told him that I joined Weight Watchers and lost 20 pounds but he was dismissive of that and said that I needed to… exercise . . . which would be a good point except that he never asked me if I did exercise . . . which I do.
