Dr. Nicholas Scott Stollenwerk, MD

I recently went over the results of my smoker's annual lung CT scan with Dr. Stollenwerk. Rather than leave it at the usual "Everything normal, repeat next year," the good doctor spent a considerable amount of time with me going over risk factors, history, adisnd solutions. I have been told to quit smoking by a gazillion doctors but Dr. Stollenwerk, in a very non-judgmental manner, may have been the first one to actually offer solutions and proper motivation. Other than this, I was very pleased with UC Davis' Pulmonology Department, although it requires a referral and some persistence to get an appointment. Dr. Stollenwerk's work with robotic bronchoscopy, whereby he, his team, and a thoracic surgeon can diagnose, biopsy, and remove nodules all in one procedure, is impressive. I Googled this procedure and no other medical center is doing these types of comprehensive robotic bronchoscopies. Certainly a fanstastic way of eliminating weeks of stress waiting for results.
