Summary

Nicholas Tsitsilianos, MD, is dual board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. He specializes in the non-surgical evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, with a particular focus on diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, orthobiologics, and injury prevention. Dr. Tsitsilianos was born and raised in Worcester, MA, where his love of sport took shape on the basketball court. As a former collegiate basketball player, he brings a first-hand understanding of what it means to be an athlete — the drive to compete, the frustration of injury, and the desire to return to the activities that matter most. That experience shapes how he approaches every patient: with a personalized, evidence-based plan built around their goals and lifestyle. He completed his medical degree at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton, PA, graduating as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha national honor society. He went …on to complete his residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian (Columbia/Cornell), where he served as academic chief resident. He then returned to Boston for his Sports Medicine fellowship at Harvard Spaulding/Mass General Brigham, where he served as a team physician for the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Revolution, and Harvard Athletics.

Dr. Tsitsilianos has developed particular expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound — both as a diagnostic tool that delivers precise, real-time imaging at the point of care, and as a means of guiding targeted procedures for joint and tendon related injury. These include Orthobiologic treatments such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and percutaneous tenotomy, among others. He has been invited to teach musculoskeletal ultrasound at the national level for the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). He is passionate about caring for athletes of all ages and activity levels — from weekend warriors to competitive professionals — and is committed to helping each patient reach their performance and fitness goals through the most thoughtful, least invasive path possible.
