Dr. Volpe did my surgery for Diplopia at Scheie Eye Institute In Philadelphia, PA. Thank you Dr. Volpe. I know moved to another state and want to see him again for another problem. I trust this doctor 100%.

For yrs. I suffered from Diplopia until I found Dr. Volpe in Philadelphia, PA and the VA hospital together with Schindler fixed my eye problem. I will always be thankful to both doctors for being very caring and compassionate.

Dr Volpe has a great chair side manner. I feel very confident that I have received the best of care from him.

He seemed more interested in the residents than me, the patient. No wonder he didn't come up with the right diagnosis.

After having grown up with strabismus (a crossed, "lazy" eye) and being told by numerous "Top Docs" around the country either that nothing could be done about it or that surgery was too risky (my dad was a hot-shot surgeon himself, and so got me in to see lots of big-time ophthalmologists in NYC, Chicago, and Philly), I was finally referred to Dr. Volpe in my late thirties (by another great eye doctor, Dr. Madeleine Ewing at Pennsy). He took one look, performed a couple tests, and told me he could fix it, which he did a few days later.The procedure has changed my life for the better, by allowing me to look others in the eye with the confidence that they'll know I'm looking at them. I write this review as a kind of thank you to him; my only wish is that I'd met him twenty years earlier.Alas, as the title to this post states, Dr. Volpe has left the Philadelphia area and become the chief at Northwestern, near Chicago. Still, no matter where you are, if you are living with the… shame/embarrassment of of strabismus, it's worth the trip(s) to Chicago to have Dr. Volpe change your life (or at least give him a call to see if he can refer you to someone doing the same surgery elsewhere). Your insurance will likely cover the surgery, since the procedure is corrective, not merely cosmetic, and as such is considered medically necessary.
