Dr. Nickolas Grant Harker, MD

Dr. Harker was dismissive and rude. I explained my symptoms, he told me what he thought my diagnosis was and how to treat it. I had previously done very thorough research into what I was experiencing and when he told me his diagnosis, I asked if he could help me understand it in light of the fact that his diagnosed condition has four key symptoms, of which I was experiencing none, and that another diagnosis fit all of my symptoms perfectly. He was immediately rude and defensive. "You can read websites if you want, but that's my diagnosis. If you disagree with it you can get a second opinion." I told him that I wasn't questioning his credentials just confused and had honest questions. He replied abruptly, "I don't care. If you want a second opinion, go get one." 24 hours of unrelenting symptoms later, I was in the ER where they immediately went to work looking at potentially life-threatening conditions (which Dr. Harker hadn't done). They ultimately ruled out his flawed diagnosis (that… was my second opinion, I guess), and ultimately diagnosed me with the condition that I had previously researched as matching my symptoms. In hindsight I'm pretty upset at the arrogance, the defensiveness, and frankly the medical malpractice that I experienced with Dr. Harker. Fortunately my condition wasn't life threatening or debilitating, but he had done nothing to figure any of that out. Instead he just sent me home to suffer for another 24 hours with a misdiagnosis. This is the worst medical care I have ever received.

I understand that Dr.s know more and can tell if patients really need certain treatments or not, and don't want to deal with certain things. I'm not reviewing his skill, it is his manners that are bad. He seems to have an ego complex and rushes and brushes concerns. He was looking for a piece of contact lens in my eye and when he used a slitmachine I asked if he was going to use UV light (a flip of a switch) he said he didn't need to. (he used a hand held one early but no magnifying machine. He couldn't find it. I asked if there was a medical reason why I couldn't feel it last time (it happened once before and there was a piece) He irritatedly responded I was free to seek a second opinion. (Earlier he suggested that if i felt it later cause he didn't have all the equipment at Instacare) So I did and the specialist had excellent manners. Turns out there wasn't anything in my eye but due to better comm skills I trusted him. Don't see Dr Harker if you are looking of good bedside… manners.

Not a good doc. Charges you way later on

I came in as soon as the office opened with pink eye, massive ear ache and a cold. He seemed bothered that I was there and seemed in a hurry to move on to the next patient (even though I was the first one of the day) When I asked for some eye drops he said it might now be pink eye (it clearly was) but it might be related to my cold. I then pretty much had to ask for drops being that I'm a teacher and I'm around kids all day. Then when he looked into my ears he said he couldn't do much because I had too much wax. Again I asked him to clean them, his nurse proceeded to squirt 2 bottles of water into my ears which did nothing to clean them and just caused too much pain. He then said there was nothing he could do to help my pain to which I demanded he do something and he chuckled and said "so you want me to fix your problem now?" Well duh! That's what I came in for. After a few more painful squirts of water he removed a lump of wax and said I had inflammation and prescribed some meds, but… no antibiotics. He didn't even check my throat and spent probably a total of 5 mins with me. Today I went to the ENT and it turns out I have a huge sinus infection which I got antibiotics for. Don't go see this guy, he clearly doesn't care about his patients.

I have never been seen a doctor who cares less about interacting with patients and focuses more on being hostile and condescending. Avoid this guy like the plague. He seriously did not want to hear anything I had to say.
