Dr. Nickolas B Reimer, MD

I had a knee replacement by Dr. Reimer. I have seen scores of doctors in my lifetime of 80 years. This is one of the best doctors I have ever been to. Not only is he the kindest and knowledgeable orthopedic I have seen but he has the best doctor patient manners I have seen. I am a palled by one of the reviews that gave him sadly a one star. That is shameful and it shouldn't even have been printed. I'm an older woman and he was understanding of me and listen to me even when I talk too much. You should consider reviews less than three stars, especially for Doctors like Dr. Reimer.

Our experience with Dr. Reimer started off fantastic. He was very upfront & thorough & clearly knowledgeable in his field. My mother was referred to him for an uncertain area seen on her pelvis, which was determined to be a fracture in her ilium. She also was complaining of severe pain that radiated from her stomach to her back to her hip. Our initial visit with Dr. Reimer was, unfortunately, our only visit with him. It was a very eye opening visit where we were given scenarios based on what Dr. Reimer typically sees with his patients-cancer. We left the visit desperately trying to remain hopeful, but scared. After CT scans & a biopsy were performed to determine the cause of the fracture in my mother’s right ilium we NEVER heard, first hand, from Dr. Reimer. At first I excused this because we were so fortunate my mother’s CT’s showed no metastasis & her biopsy came back benign. My whole family took a deep breath with this news that was given to us BY PHONE from Susan, Dr. Reimer’s PA.… Please keep in mind this was all prior to COVID 19. Why weren’t we asked to come back in for a follow up with Dr. Reimer to discuss results directly with him & what we should do next? Susan was very informative as well & beyond understanding with us. She informed us that my mother’s pelvic fracture would heal on its own in time & that they honestly were uncertain as to what caused the fracture. She informed us we needed to follow up with my mother’s primary care physician. When I inquired what could be causing my mother’s other pain she again recommended following up with my mother’s primary care physician-rightfully so. As time went on(3 more months)my mother stayed in severe pain. Eventually we discovered she had a GI bleed caused by a massive ulcer that had pushed through her stomach & taken a portion of her intestines out. The CT’s didn’t show this. On May 1, 2020 my mother passed away due to an anoxic brain injury. This injury was caused by a lack of oxygen to her brain when her heart stopped during a routine endoscope procedure to find the GI bleed. I do not blame any of the doctor’s my mother was a patient of during our quest to find what was causing her pain & sickness, not even Dr. Reimer. He made it very clear in our only appt. with him that he is an orthopedic oncologist & other areas are NOT his specialty. My biggest concern with Dr. Reimer is his lack of communication & desire to be informed of what was causing one of his patient’s chronic pain. After my mother passed I called his office because I genuinely thought he might find it interesting that the CT’s didn’t see my mother’s ulcer. After all he was the doctor that explained CT’s only show about 85% of what is there. I truly thought he would be grateful I was calling to discuss what was found & it might help him with future patients who were maybe experiencing some of the same symptoms. After calling his office twice & leaving messages I finally spoke to his secretary. While on the phone with his secretary I broke down in tears desiring a call. Avril was very caring & said she would send the information to Dr. Reimer. The next day I got a call from his office. Was it Dr. Reimer? No. It was his PA, Susan. I explained everything to her & again she was so understanding and patient. I explained how I thought she might want to know this information we discovered about my mother to help them with further cases that might be similar to my mother’s. Before I hung up I explained my disappointment in Dr. Reimer’s lack of communication. I, AGAIN, requested to Susan for Dr. Reiner himself to please call me so I could discuss our findings & discuss my disappointment in his lack of communication. I never heard from him. Anyone who can sit there & tell a patient & her family they are likely looking at a cancer diagnosis & then not have the audacity to have them come back to his office regardless of the results, much less call us, is a coward. Dr. Reimer, you have lost sight of what going into the medical field is about-genuinely caring to help people.

physician had to do a revision to a hip already compromised by a botched broken leg condition. Painful, yes don’t expect anything less. You’ll be up and walking within hours. Recommend this physician to any senior considering a hip replacement.

Excellent doctor and surgeon. I have very little scaring after a rod was used to replace my femur bone and I am just amazed at how he cares much

Dr Reimer is the best my leg was 3 incbes shorter caused by a child hood bone infection..Im now the same length on both my left and right sides..still have some serguries to do.I feel everything is gonna go well Dr.Reimer is awsome and i hope he will continue to be my doctor and fix other problems caused by my childhood bone infection in 1979.Im sk glad i waited so long to have any sergury done.I have defaintly found a wonderful doctor..

Kindand knowledgeable about his profession. His PA Susan is kind, intelligent and very understanding.

Dr. Reimer has been a huge blessing to our family! Incredible surgeon!
