Nicole Haslett, DO

I had an extremely disappointing and concerning experience with Nicole Haslett, DO, while I was a patient at Riverview Medical Center for significant pain related to an ovarian cyst. I had undergone testing, including an MRI, and had important questions about my results and what they meant for my care. Despite being the on-call gynecologist, Dr. Haslett never came to see me in the hospital. My primary care physician had to contact her several times before she finally called me directly. The phone call itself was incredibly unprofessional. Dr. Haslett called from a private number, and throughout the conversation her children could be heard loudly in the background. She was also distracted by and interacting with her child while I was trying to discuss my medical concerns. I felt that she was barely listening to me and that my concerns were not being taken seriously. When I asked her a specific question about my MRI, she told me she did not know the answer because she did not have the… report in front of her. I understand that a physician may not have every answer immediately available, but rather than reviewing the report, discussing it with me, or providing any meaningful guidance, she offered essentially no information or recommendations other than telling me to follow up with my own gynecologist. I was in the hospital because I was experiencing significant pain and had legitimate concerns about an ovarian cyst and my imaging findings. I expected the on-call gynecologist to evaluate me, review the relevant information, answer reasonable questions, and provide some guidance regarding next steps. None of that happened. The entire interaction left me feeling dismissed, unheard, and without any meaningful medical guidance. Calling a hospitalized patient from a private number while caring for and interacting with children in the background, without coming to evaluate the patient and without having the patient's imaging available to answer questions, was, in my opinion, extremely unprofessional. Patients deserve to feel that their concerns are being heard and that the physician responsible for their care is present, prepared, and engaged. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Dr. Haslett.
