Dr. Nicole Hausman, MD

Terrible bedside manner. Doesn’t know how to speak to patients let alone connect with them. She’s rude and dismissive. If you can avoid seeing her, I would.

I need a doctor who is smart and takes her time to answer my questions as a first-time mother. I don't need a friend. I'm happy when doctors are up front about risks; I don't need the sugarcoating. Dr. Hausman tells it like it is. I'm not suggesting she's a jerk (at all!), but there's no second-guessing with her and I truly appreciate that. She's professional, never treated me in a manner where I thought she was being rude, and explains things. Here's the most important part I think patients forget. Doctors can't read minds! Crazy, right? So when you're unclear about something, ASK. I get so tired of patients complaining that something wasn't explained to them when I bet they didn't open their yapper to ask. So there you have it folks. In conclusion: ask questions, and Dr. Hausman is smart and through. The end.

I saw Dr. Hausman for an amniocentesis. I am of advanced maternal age and needed some fairly standard testing for that reason. She was very clear about the procedure throughout the whole visit and took time to explain all the pros and cons of everything associated with the testing being done. She also explained the after-care very thoroughly. All of the above felt like good bedside manner. Moreover, based on our discussion, I'm more confident I understand what's happening with my pregnancy and the fetus -- that's super important to me.

Dr. Hausman heads the high risk clinic therefore I believe she is smart and really understand the risks associated with what's considered 'high risk'. The problem these days as social norms have allowed women to work until a later age and have babies often times over the age of 30 and diet has caused many people to have gestational diabetes and high blood pressure. There's a significant number of women who are in 'high risk'. Dr. Hausman is brutal about the risks, some risks have a very small probability gets equal time and weighting as other issues that are much more probable. I have been a part of and have heard of numerous discussions amongst her patients, her reputation is horrendous. I will be delaying my first visit to her in my next pregnancy or seeking another hospital.

First things first. Dr. Hausman is knowledgeable and very thorough which are the things that count really. And I guess my review could end there, but those are the end of her 5-star qualities. As far as bedside manner, she really leaves much to be desired. I spent upwards of 45 minutes laying on the table during my ultrasound. I did not get to see the screen until the last 1-2 minutes. Maybe the patient could be included the first few moments (in addition to the last few) so that the mind is not racing or the patient is not anxious beyond words? Further, I was not warned when she began very abruptly and forceably pushing on my stomach in rapid succession. I later learned (after maybe the 10th time) that she wanted the baby to move. It was shocking and unexpected and I would've like to have known it was coming...every time. Additionally, several moments were uncomfortable where I experienced pain at her pushing on certain areas of my stomach during the ultrasound. I wish she… had been more clear about the process and what would take place rather than leaving me to wonder as the 45 minutes transpired and I had no idea when we would finish or what would happen next. I felt like a chore or a number rather than a patient and a person. She does not need to share my feelings of excitement or anticipation or even be happy for me, but I do expect clear communication and an understanding that this is an exciting moment for ME.

You are in good hands with her. She is knowledgable and thorough and really cares about your health and the health of your baby.

She is really an excellent doctor.

She is the best doctor!!!!! If she is your doctor it means you are in good hands. We love her and would recommend her if you are having a high risk pregnancy
