Dr. Nicole Marie Paprocki

My primary doctor passed 3 years prior and I finally decided to give a new doctor a chance. It was my first-time meeting with Dr. Paprocki and I only went in because I had been going through major life events that I really wasn’t comfortable speaking with her about because she was new to me. I tried to give her a snippet of what I was going through so she could at least understand I was going through something. I am very self-aware that I have had depression throughout the years, but even trying to explain that I was having a hard time, she just seemed to not be hearing me. I normally tend to handle it on my own, but when my back went out (this time it went out bad), and combined with how I was already feeling, I felt I needed some time to get myself together as I was missing work often because of how low I was feeling. My previous physician was always understanding, but my experience with Dr. Paprocki was demeaning. I got a feel as if she thought I was lying to her or making it up,… and this is the reason I have had a hard time even coming in to see a new doctor. I am very observant and just her responses and body language, I felt very uncomfortable to even disclose more. On my FMLA forms I asked for her to complete, she recommended to take and 1-2 days off, but it was only approved from her for a month; I did not even get my forms until I called to see what was going on with them and the month was almost over by the time I received them. I guess she believes depression only lasts a month and I am against using meds when I can, and I felt I was being pushed in that direction. During my second follow-up, I expressed concerns and wanted further testing of my thyroid as the first time she declined further testing. My therapist I had started seeing also recommended it. However, after explaining this to Dr. Paprocki, she kept saying my training this my training that to pretty much decline my request. I have really good insurance that will cover all my testing, and telling her I have felt like my hormones have been off for a while, my hair has been falling off more than normal, I have been fatigue anxious, depressed, she felt no need to do further testing. She said she would write me a script but without her recommendation and my insurance would not pay for it with out her recommendation. WTH was the point if I can get my own testing and the reason I have insurance. I have been at this practice for 18 years, but after she said that, I have refused to come back. She really should not be working in a community that deals with a lot of trauma if she is going to just rely on her “trainings” and not have grace for those who need it. Sometimes life experiences trump these MD’s trainings, and if these doctors can not identify with their patients, I really do not know why they have them servicing them.
