Dr. Nikan Hootan Khatibi, DO

He pierced my spinal cord during a cervical epidural, leaving me with permanent nerve damage and a paralyzed left hand. I was a healthy, active, successful woman. Now I'm 100% disabled and in chronic pain, with a neurostimulator in my spine. My life will never be the same as it was before he did this to me. Please, trust me, run for the hills.

The office staff is the main issue. Rude and unprofessional. They do t call back your pharmacy to refill prescriptions. They aren’t open when they say to come in. And they randomly charge you hundreds of dollars for “copays” even though I have no copay and proved it to them they said “leave if you don’t like it”. It’s not an uncommon occurrence to see patients crying in the waiting room or back offices because of frustrations. They also have several HIPAA violations pending against them. The doctor is nice I guess. But he is very unprofessional. He injected me in the wrong spot for my injections.

Fourth pain management doctors office I’ve been to since 2014. But this is not a doctors office. They do not do a physical exam noting your limitations and pain. They offered me opiate meds which I declined because I don’t believe they help my pain issues. This office is walk ins and appointments but it’s first come first serve. It was packed with people and everyone coming out had a paper prescription. My insurance referred me.

Dr. Khatibi never sees his own patients and has students run his whole pill dispensing operation. In addition, he has terrible mood swings and makes sexually inappropriate comments regularly. He’s also a DO that has MD written on all business cards.

This man was so good to me that my mother is willing to drop a thousand or more dollars to get me on a same day flight so I could go see him and hopefully get my life back after an injury I sustained during having my daughter that ended up making what he was helping me with 10xs as bad. So that’s saying a lot. My mother wouldn’t just drop money like that if she didn’t believe he would help.

I tried making an appointment with the woman with heavy accent. I feel like it’s a family member because otherwise, I’m really shocked that they would keep someone who is so unprofessional. I made an appointment and was clarifying the type of appointment and she thought I was saying something else. When I tried to clarify again, she told me to “shut up!” She then hung up on me. When I called back to try and talk to someone else to see what was going on, I got her again and she yelled at me and told me not to come there ever. LOL. Wow. I can’t imagine treating there. What kind of doctor can he be if he allows his staff, family or not, to speak to people in that manner. I am still in shock.

FIRE THE LADY AT THE FRONT WITH THE HEAVY ACCENT. OMG SHE IS SO RUDE. I tried calling to receive information about my medication since I moved out of state. SHE CUT ME OFF, HUNG UP ON ME THREE TIMES, and ALL I WANTED TO KNOW was what the fax number was for the office. She thought I was asking about refunds. RUDE WOMAN. If she would have continued to let me talk she would have known I was just ASKING FOR THE FAX NUMBER. JESUS CHRIST FIRE HER.

I am a patient at Dr Khatibi's Escondido office. He has an amazing bedside manner and is a brilliant physician. Genuinely concerned for his patients wellbeing. Highly recommend him as a physician.
