Dr. Nikhil Kanu Chokshi, MD

Dr was on call when I came to the ER with a fractured shoulder. He was very caring, and concerned. He took time to explain and answered all my questions. If I could rate his PA she would get a 1 star. Did not know much about shoulders and had no answers to my questions when I was having issues. Dr is the only one I will see from now on.

Would not recommend him to work on a pet rat. I only rated him a one because it won't let you submit without selecting a rating from one to five. I would rate him a minus 100. Has no one on call for him. Had major joint infection after an arthroscopy. He left me hanging for 6 days before seeing me, then when finally seeing me he took me for emergency surgery due to a staph joint infection. Ended up in hospital for 4 days, had a PIC line inserted and was on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks. Having to have an extra surgery accelerated the arthritis in my knee and I ended up getting a knee replacement because of the damage (by a different, competent Dr.). He even had his PA see me on my first follow up visit who told me that I had to work hard in therapy. He never even asked me if I was in physical therapy, which I was and working very hard at. The PA's condescending bedside manner was unacceptable and we had to argue to have the next follow up visit with Dr. Chokshi instead of the PA. … No matter how many times you call to try and get follow up for complications, he will not get you in to see you. Maybe if he would have removed the cyst I had before the arthroscopy I would not have gotten the joint infection. Maybe if he had seen me when I first called about the complications I would have had a better result. Please, do not have this happen to you!

Wife had hip surgery, Nov 2017. He fractured her hip during what was to be a routine surgery. Mislocated cup hole he drilled, left wall too thin. Pounded in cup, fractured. 10 days in hospital, excruciating pain and suffering, he didn't care. BEWARE this Dr.

Performed surgery for my wife while she had a blood disorder. Performed as expected, always available for conference. Was recommended by another doctor. Easy to talk with and always gave details explanation of what to expect. Now left the Bloomington area and will be missed.

Dr. Chokshi was excellent. I had him for my hip replacement which he performed through the anterior approach. He spent more time with me than any surgeon I have ever met. He explained what to expect and directed me to additional resources. He discussed the risks and benefits of the procedure. I had the procedure and was only in the hospital one night. I stopped us g the stronger pain medication within a few days and wasn't using even a cane by the time of my follow up. I can't recommend him enough. I understand not everyone's experience will be the same but mine was great.
