Dr. Nilima H Mamtora, MD

My 1st (& only) visit to this office was appalling. Immediately it's obvious that the condition of the office is disheveled, cluttered & unorganized with patient files practically falling from shelves.Theres a problem with the lack of cleanliness in the restroom. But much WORSE was the actual exam with the doctor. 1st, she did the pelvic exam without having a nurse present, which is actually required. 2nd, as she was finished with my pelvic exam she went to the sink & barely rinsed her hands. I noticed she was still wearing the blue gloves she had on while examining me. I thought surely she'd been wearing 2 sets of gloves and disposed of the outer ones. To my shock & horror she'd only been wearing the one pair of blue gloves. I checked the trash when she left the room NO OTHER GLOVES!! So she's going from patient to patient performing exams, handling patient files, etc with the same used gloves on!! To make it worse, just thrown in the sink where she'd barely rinsed off her gloved… hands were the metal speculum & other instruments she'd used during my exam, just laying used in the sink!! I felt so unsafe & unsure of what I could have been exposed to. Why aren't they using disposable instruments?? Probably the same reason she's not changing gloves between patients, it's an expense to use disposables. I've filed formal complaints across the board with my insurance company, the Department of Managed Health Care & the California Medical Board, all of whom agreed these are egregious violations to patient health & safety. The doctor & staff were all perfectly nice & amicable, but that's no substitution for basic hygiene, sterilization & patient safety!!

So I went to visit Dr. Mamtora about 2 weeks ago for my first OB appointment. I read all of the reviews on her and decided to give her a chance. All went well and I was unsure of why she was depicted as such a horrible OB and now I know. Today I tried to go to get the ultrasound she ordered me to have done. When I got to the office I was told I couldn’t be seen not only because they didn’t have the authorization but I hadn’t made an appointment. I was very confused because Dr. Mamtora didn’t inform me that I would need to make an appointment so I called the office. When I called and spoke to her she informed me that she was just too busy and didn’t have the time to send the authorization and hung up! I was so surprised!! I decided to call my primary care doctor and his referral department had it done in 10 minutes tops. The receptionist for the ultrasound office was on the phone arguing with Dr. Mamtora about all that happened and how she spoke to me and Dr. Mamtora just made excuses… and tried to blame me the PATIENT for her mess up. After today I will be changing OB because I find it hard to trust a “Doctor” who can’t get a simple referral. Oh, and she charges for everything!!! Even a missed appointment! This is illegal! She also has you sign a paper stating that if she messes up during your labor she won’t be held responsible. The last two scary thing about this doctor I noticed when I had my appointment is she was getting a page for the emergency room and she told the receptionist she was too busy. Finally, she said to all the mothers to be in the office that If we went into labor after hours not to expect that she will respond through the middle of the night. This was the cherry on the cake!!! How am I supposed to trust this woman with my health and the health of my child when she said that if she’s sleeping when I go into labor then I’ll just have to have the doctor on duty deliver my child OR try and keep my baby from being born until she is “available” Don’t go here if you value your health.

Dr. Mamtora has been my ob/gyn for over 10 years. I am almost 70 years old, and have seen other gynecologists in the past who order their patients around and don't really care about them; but Dr. Mamtora truly loves and cares about all her patients. I highly recommend her.

She has been my obgyn since my 1st pregnancy back in 2010... She delivered both my children 2011 & 2013.. Shes the best!

She is a great doctor and has great staff !!

There were ants in the office near where the blood and urine samples were. The office is filthy.

aweful aweful aweful!!!!!!!! I didn't mind the fact that the office was full, or that it was in a small little building in a residential neighborhood... but when i went to sign in with her receptionist, i had a glance at the doctors office.... piled high with papers falling all over the place... I thought "scary"! i mean, a doctor who's dealing with your lady parts should at least be more organized... I thought, "well, i need to see her for a check up" so i went forward with it... the 40 minute wait didn't even bother be... or how busy the receptionist was... i understood they were really busy and these kinds of clinics usually are.... finally, as the nurse took my blood pressure and weight, i noticed all these plastic cups, just open on a tray behind me filled with urine samples and marked with a sharpie marker.... like a kids party where everyone gets there own plastic cup with their name on it.. i mean, what if one got nocked over... my thoughts: "contamination". And who… really wants to sit there and look at all that pee.... i mean, is this the 70s? When i went in to the lab room, there was an unlabeled sample bottle of some dark brown substance, casually placed on the desk in the room where i was meant to do a biopsy.... gross! The doctor was rough and brash with me while doing the biopsy. it was painful and she was not reassuring! it was the worst OBGYN experience of my life! i left crying! when the doctor left the room, she left my samples on the same desk, and with out even writing my name on it or labeling it. who was to collect this? sort it? send it to the lab? i was truly concerned!!!! I would not recommend this doctor on the sole reason that her office is very dirty and unorganized!!!!!! she has bad bedside manner and the fact that she has a busy office doesn't mean she can treat people harshly and like numbers. needless to say, i will be seeking a new OBGYN and a second opinion!!!!

She is a busy busy woman but she takes care of you! I recomend her to anyone that I know is pregnant. Great OB.

Dr. Mamtora is very skilled and caring. Her care is better than other doctors I have seen and I drive very far to see her because she is the best doctor I have found. Keep in mind that the polls like these often attract extremely negative minded opinions. I highly recommend this doctor.

my fiance was a patient of Dr Mamtora and had to get a D&C due to a miscarriage and Dr Mamtora started off by not communicating accurately with admitting at the hospital, and the hospital staff did NOT appreciate that. The pre-op staff didn't get adequate communication from her as well, and I spoke with the doctor about communication as I am ex-military Medical Corps, and she couldn't even get it through her head how important communication was, could not follow through on a prescription that was supposed to be done, and even lied about my fiance being in the recovery room when she was NOT.
