Dr. Nina L Bergquam, MD

I had an emergency appointment yesterday with Dr. Nina Bergquam. My first time meeting her. I explained that I had been in very excruciating pain of sudden onset and unknown origin on the left side of my face. The pain was rated 10 and was intermittent and seemed to move from upper gum to lower gum to jaw and throat. She did not look in my mouth but told me she thought I should see a dentist. I explained that I had had a complete exam with xrays within the last 4 months, but I would get the dentist to repeat. She was almost hostile when I asked her if my pain could be trigeminal neuropathy. She seemed angry but said it could be and was usually triggered by Shingles. I told her I had Shingles in my left eye in 2012. She agreed to give me gabopenten but ordered a dose that was far less than the recommended minimum. She refused to give me anything else for the horrible pain so I was up all night in pain. The dentist exam was negative for any problems. Still, she refused to… give anything additional for pain relief except more gabapentin even after I told her the pharmacist said the gabapentin could take up to 3 weeks for it to take full effect. She sent me home with no back up for pain and I'm looking forward to another evening of excruciating pain. I never take pain meds because I usually just don't need them and prefer not to. This pain is excruciating.

Completely disagree with previous reviews. Doctor Berquam was kind, thorough, & helpful with physical therapy referrals. I recommend her.

I occasionally have my neck and back go out on me. Last time was 16 months ago. I went in with severe pain to get some relief and make an appointment for physical therapy. She told me she doesn't like to Rx pain medication and left me with 20 Vicodin to last me until my appointment 3 weeks later. She refuses to listen and has left me in severe pain. She also inferred I had a drug problem which was completely insulting and demeaning.

Found that the experience with Dr. Bergquam was inferior. She was abrupt. She did not have a kind manner. She did not listen and did not show any bedside manner. Her diagnosis was wrong and although the complete details were given to her she did not pay attenton.
