Dr. Nina Judith Caplin, MD

Went to see Nina for an annual check up exam. She claimed she did a shoulder exam and billed me 160$ for what was a referral to a orthopedist. She also was IMPOSSIBLE to reach to discuss my lab results after quickly prescribing a serious statin. After innumerable emails, phone calls I gave up and simply got a new doctor. No patient should have to bang their head against a wall to discuss their health. SHAMEFUL.

Love her. She is more than a doctor, she is a friend.

I see Dr Caplin at NYU Hospital. She is friendly, and listens to all needs and concerns. She also is open to the patients wants and needs rather than forcing medications on you or being stubborn like some drs can be. Highly recommended!

Don't expect the quality PCP experience you should be expecting from an NYU internal medicine doctor. You won't find it here.

I came to Dr. Caplin with several symptoms. As I explained each of them to her, she dismissed them and claimed I was "normal." She refused to look deeper to help me discover the cause. When I asked for referrals, it was like asking a parent for permission to go to a party. She often said no (ex - I asked for a referral to a chiropractor for medical massage because of chronic pain in my neck and shoulders; Dr. Caplin said I didn't need to see a chiropractor because "all they do is run a whole lot of unnecessary tests and X-rays"). Same for blood work. If SHE didn't feel you needed it, she wouldn't consider it. Needless to say, I have changed doctors after two depressing visits to Dr. Caplin. Best of luck to her and those who are still in her care. Unfortunately, she was not too helpful to me.

I just had my first visit with Dr. Caplin and couldn't have been more satisfied with her. She spent so much time with me listening to every ache and pain and didn't dismiss me. She also did an impromptu physical exam because she had time. I left armed with many referrals. She seemed genuinely concerned.

I've been seeing Dr. Caplin for several years. I never have trouble getting an appointment and she always spends a lot of time asking me questions and listening to me. She will only write a prescription after doing due diligence to find out what she's treating. She has provided excellent referrals to specialists. Absolutely the best primary physician I've ever had.

She has given improper diagnoses and also prescribed the wrong unit of medication.
