About Me
I grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, California and attended the University of California, Berkeley for my undergraduate training. I actually majored in mechanical engineering, but also took some specialty courses in bioengineering. By the time I completed college I realized that while I enjoyed the challenges of problem solving and analytical thinking which engineering provided, I was still more fascinated by the world of medicine, which I had been exposed to during my bioengineering coursework.
I went on to attend medical school, internship, and residency training in New York (see my credentials for details). As a lifelong Californian I was reluctant to leave the west coast, but I wouldn't trade my years in New York for anything. I feel like a more well rounded individual having "seen how the other half live" for a few years. But at the end of my eight years in New York I knew it was time to return to California.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in …the summer of 2001. There are literally hundreds of different practice settings for emergency physicians, but I know I made the right choice when I chose Kaiser Permanente. The integrated model of group practice gives me the autonomy to practice medicine free of constraints, and it's comforting to know that when I discharge my patients from the emergency department they will be followed through by my colleagues within the same group practice.
When I’m not working I enjoy taking advantage of all the Bay Area has to offer (there is a reason I chose to return to California of course). I enjoy playing a variety of sports, traveling both near and far, or just spending a day in San Francisco exploring new neighborhoods and places to eat and relax.
