Why I chose to pursue a career in healthcare:I wanted to work in the medical field since childhood. When I came to the U.S., I enrolled in a nursing program in 2006. I started my career as a registered nurse and worked in cardiology for about 6 years. I wanted to do more for my patients and my zeal for learning led me to complete the nurse practitioner program from Widener University in 2015. My interest in cardiology continued to grow and I did majority of my clinical orientations in cardiology. I have been working as a nurse practitioner in cardiology since 2015 and have been working with WellSpan Cardiology since May 2017. I enjoy learning and working with the cardiology physicians and other staff members. What I want my patients to know about me:I want to let my patients to know that they are in capable hands. Having 3 years of experience as a nurse practitioner in cardiology, I have cared for and treated hundreds of patients. I always educate patients about their condition, …diagnosis, treatment, how the medications are going to work, doing stress tests, stress test findings and a future plan of action. I make it a priority to listen to questions and answer them to patients' satisfaction. I also make it a point to provide all relevant and permissible information to family members accompanying the patient. I treat and prescribe tests and medication based on evidence and best practices for effective patient outcomes. I work in collaboration with physicians and other staff members as needed. What I do when I'm not seeing patients:When I am not seeing patients, I spend time with my family. My only daughter just started college, I make it a point to talk to her daily. I like to cook Indian dishes and listen to Bollywood music. I also love to talk with my parents back in India, which also I do daily. I like to plan vacations with my family to India and other destinations.
