Dr. Nissrine Ahmad Nakib, MD

Unprofessional, unprepared, and seems incompetent. I waited for an hour for a virtual visit. While waiting I checked my patient portal, where I had already received my visit summary, for an appointment I was still waiting for her to show up for. During the virtual visit she she expressed that she didn’t have any of my test results in front of her. She hadn’t looked at them. I had to tell her the reasons for my visit. When she pulled up my chart, she dismissed my concerns. She wanted to schedule surgery, but focused on all of the risks verses the benefits of the surgery. I felt as though I was being rushed into a situation where she is more focused on her schedule than my care.

This is very difficult for me to write as I initially felt confident under Dr. Nakibs care. She is also very pleasant. However, after a basic Bladder repair I was n rendered unable to walk without being in excruciating pain due to a surgical clip having been placed on a nerve. 3 months later she performed a 15 minute surgical procedure to remove the clip, which eased the pain, but impaired my ability to urinate on my own and I am completely reliant on self-cathing. I have had 5 surgeries since then ( with another surgeon) and I am permanently rendered with retention and lack of feeling bowel stimuli. It has been financially and emotionally debilitating, but, apparently, it was a "risk" I wasn't aware of.

Dr. Nakib always goes above and beyond. I have multiple symptoms going on with my bladder, but I also have endometriosis, pelvic floor issues, etc which all affect my bladder. She is not only very personable but also extremely knowledgeable, especially with female urinary issues. She is one of the only doctors I trust. She makes sure I am happy with our plan of action, she values my questions and worries. She will, a lot of times, follow up herself so I can explain my questions I have. I'm not always an easy patient but she is always warm and reassuring. She knows the best treatments for females that most doctors don't even consider. Her nurses are also extremely friendly and helpful and they consistently go above and beyond to help me. I can't say enough how much they help me! I'm very thankful for Dr. Nakib and her nurses.

Her demeanor was lackadaisical and disingenuous. She seemed like she was going through the motions without taking an actual interest in my conditions and concerns. She did not look at the big picture nor approach issues in a logical or systematic manner. She seemed willing to do "whatever" I wanted as opposed to using her knowledge to make wise, informed, well-ordered decisions. I was looking for professionalism and a mindful approach to my issues. Instead, I was scooted out the door with an iffy approach that was useless.

I have been dealing with some pretty debilitating UTIs this past year (Ex. I've urinated on myself in Times Sq. & I've been in and out of ERs because my symptoms have been so severe -- I couldn't wait for the hospitals to open up the next day). I was relieved when my regular gynecologist suggested I go see a specialist, particularly Dr. Nakib who was well known and was a good choice for women. She's typically booked out months in advance -- and I was so desperate for an appointment, I set one up in Maple Grove. I drove out nearly 2 hours (and back home another 2 hours) to have someone tell me things I already knew and give me advice on behaviors I was already practicing. Additionally, my gynecologist thought that Dr. Nakib could perform some tests to see if there were any underlying issues that were causing my recurrent UTIs. She did not perform a single test, not even a brief examination. Just asked me a bunch of questions, looked mildly sympathetic, and when I expressed my… desire not to immediately resort to antibiotics... she just told me to keep doing what I was already doing. My condition has continued to flare up occasionally and I recently went to another urologist who is MUCH better. The other place I went performed several tests on me (on the first visit) to rule out potential causes, worked with me when I said I wanted to limit my use of antibiotics, and actually listened to me like a human being. Luckily my insurance lets me go places without having to get a referral. Maybe she's good for other conditions. Maybe she actually is interested in you if you have something more "severe." But if you have a recurrent UTI like me, I would go somewhere else.
