Dr. Noel Brian Jewell, MD

This is a Terrible, Terrible Doctor who has amassed a large client base of people who are lucky if he can even remember their names when they come to their appointments seeking help. He was my psychiatrist for some time but I very rarely ever actually was seen by him himself but was seen by various practitioners or by his assistant. I went to over 9 months of visits hoping to finally get to actually talk to “my actual doctor” but every time I had to settle with seeing someone who merely just inputs a clients answers to a series of questions that she asks as they read them to you from a computer screen. They log details about your appearance, demeanor, and log notable client statements or concerns. If you have a serious problem or concern about your mental problems, you don’t have the luxury of asking the (so called) qualified Medical Doctorate holder you and your insurance pays for. You have to ask the question through his proxy who types it into a pc program logged in to his server… at your scheduled appointment . Then he per-portably, at a time convenient to him may or may not review all Of the summarizations of his clients sessions sent to him by his assistant. I know I never get the answers to my questions. He never calls me to answer any of my questions or has ever attempted to actually help me in anyway with respect to issues I raised at my sessions with his liaison, the things that he should have responded to if he actually did review them as he allegedly does. Dr Jewell also holds a contract with the county mental health office in the county in which I live, here in the state of West Virginia. He is the Doctor that fills the county government contract which means that he is compensated by the government and is only obligated to provide service to clients at, (or just above) the bare minimum legally required by law. He is the Doctor that poor people get because their medical welfare will only pay for someone willing to provide merely the appearance of Providing a professional service to people but in reality does literally almost nothing and helps nobody. He also runs a drug rehabilitation program where he gets people to buy pharmaceutical Heroine from drug companies instead of using street drugs. These people he “cures” just end up addicted to the prescribed version as well as the real stuff. He is a joke.

My experience was awful. I waited 3 months to see Dr. Jewell. I visited with his Nurse Practitioner in the previous months. When I arrived, I asked him 3 times if he had reviewed my file (visit with the NP). He seemed offended after the 3rd time when he told me he had not reviewed my file. I tried to explain what was going on but he was abrupt, and downright rude. He was focused on one thing and that was prescribing me medication. How does a doctor rx meds without taking the time to understand the patients situation. After 5 minutes it became abundantly obvious that he had zero concern about what I had to say. I asked for my money back and told him WV should be ashamed. I have never in my life been to a psych doctor that was so in-compassionate. I think Dr. Jewell should look into a new profession because the people in this region would be better served by someone who actually cares about patients and takes the time to understand why they are there.
