Dr. Nolan Herman Thompson, MD

I am glad to have the opportunity to present my credentials to you and share other information about myself. It is very important that you feel comfortable with your psychiatrist, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.

Biography
I moved to Los Angeles 14 years ago to start a family with my wife. I was born in Houston, Texas. I went to college at Yale and to medical school at Johns Hopkins. Along the way, I studied history and worked as a writer for a Texas history project. These days, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, walking my dog, and keeping several fish aquariums. I donate blood and platelets regularly.

About my practice
Medicine as a career is a special opportunity to connect and help people. I utilize medical skills and knowledge, but I also listen and work to respond to what patients need. Communication with my patients and their families is an important part of my practice. I feel honored that patients have entrusted me with their …care. I strive to treat them as I would my own family.

How I thrive
I believe in Kaiser Permanente's emphasis on the health and well-being of the whole person. My family life is my major priority. I enjoy family walks and day trips to various sites and events around Southern California. I have rediscovered music, and I am learning to play guitar and piano. This is especially enjoyable when I play music with my children. I also enjoy keeping fish aquariums, playing tennis, and quiet family time at home.
