Dr. Nora Jane Bucher, MD

Dr. Bucher literally saved my life from stage 4 B cell lymphoma. Other doctors had written me off and said I had very little time to live. She took charge and directed my treatment. I am alive today because of her efforts. I can never thank her enough. Andrew Baechtel

Seems very nice, but only discusses other than the medical issues. Three items on my blood tests were extremely high. I tried to get her to discuss them with me to no avail. Eventually she agreed to send me to a specialist dealing in that area. Another area on the blood tests were ignored when they repeatedly came up much lower than the low score. I called to get someone to talk about it. No return call. I had the same thing a month prior. A nurse was the only one that eventually called me back. It does not seem right that an Oncology doctor does not realize that their patients are dealing with life and death issues.l

Before going I had found a couple bad reviews online for her so was apprehensive. My experience was amazing however and I would highly recommend her if you are lucky enough to get referred.

I went to see Dr. Bucher because I have MTHFR, which puts me at a high risk for blood clots as well as complications during pregnancy due to limited ability to absorb folic acid. I wanted her advice on (1) what my best birth control options were given my risk of blood clots, and (2) what she recommended I do to address my MTHFR when pregnant. Dr. Bucher was very nice when I saw her, and she said that she needed to have bloodwork done before she could give me any advice on the issues I had come to see her about. She said I didn't need a second appointment and that she would call me as soon as my bloodwork came in for a phone consultation on my issues. That sounded great to me, so I had the bloodwork done there during the appointment and went on my way. After two and a half weeks, I'd heard nothing. I called and asked if my results were in. Later that day, the nurse called to say that my results were in (although no one had called me to tell me this) and they were "normal." I said… "That's great that they are normal, but will Dr. Bucher still be calling me to discuss the issues I came in about." The nurse said she did not know and would check with the doctor and call me back. I said great and waited for the call.After another week went by without a call, I called again. I asked the same questions, and the nurse said she would check with the doctor. I asked that the doctor please call me. The nurse called me back and asked me what questions I wanted answered by the doctor. I repeated my questions. I explained that Dr. Bucher knew the issues and was supposed to call me for a phone consultation. The nurse said she would talk to the doctor and have her call me. Another week went by without a call!! At this point, I was starting to get really annoyed. I called again. Same thing. I didn't hear back. I called one final time, this was now two months after my appointment. The nurse gave me very general answers to my questions that did not address my specific issues. I asked them to send me a copy of my bloodwork so I could go see another hematologist instead. Dr. Bucher clearly did not care to call me back and advise on my issues despite the fact that I had taken the time to see her for her expertise in this area. I was so frustrated this unprofessional and disrespectful treatment... I've never had a doctor be so unresponsive. I would not recommend Dr. Bucher to anybody.

- Doctor gave me a range of potential diagnosis due to an anomaly in my red blood cell size - ranging from being 'perfectly fine' to having a blood cancer. She didn't even write down the name of the diagnosis or explain that the potential diagnosis could be a fatal cancer. She told me to review the internet regarding the diagnosis- Doctor would not return my phone calls until I called and left messages 3x. I was super concerned regarding the potential diagnosis once I went to the internet and read that I might have a blood cancer that would leave me like 5 years to live. When she did call to tell me that my other tests were normal, she was short with me on the phone and didn't even give me a chance to ask questions. - I would not recommend Dr. Bucher - she seems to be overcommitted with her patients and doesn't seem to have the time or desire to build a trusting relationship with her patients - at least with me

My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this year, and fortunetly we were able to meet Dr. Bucher. She is very concerned for her patients and spends the time they need to be fully informed of their situation. She has been nothing but helpful and supportive towards my wife and myself. She cares very much about the patients mental attitude as well as the physical aspects of the treatment. As it turned out, she was treating one of our very good friends as well. You would be very lucky to have her as your Oncologist.
