I left this neurology appointment very disappointed in the level of care and communication we received. My daughter has had a long history of headaches since early childhood, which we came prepared to discuss in detail, including a headache log, prior evaluations, and lifestyle factors that have already been addressed with her pediatrician. Unfortunately, I felt the visit was very surface-level and did not reflect the complexity or duration of her symptoms. There were limited questions about her headache history, frequency, or progression, and I felt that assumptions were made about things not already being done when, in fact, they were. While I understand general lifestyle factors are often reviewed in headache management, we were looking for a more thorough neurological assessment and a clear plan of care or diagnostic direction. Instead, we left without a clear diagnosis or structured treatment plan, and with general recommendations that had already been implemented prior to the… visit. I had expected that a specialty visit at a children’s hospital neurology department would provide more in-depth evaluation and guidance, but we left feeling we had more questions than answers. We will be seeking follow-up care elsewhere to better address her ongoing symptoms.
