Extremely thorough and knowledgable. He took the time to explain everything and for the first time I understand things and have some hope.

After two years of pain and numerous doctors , I found Dr Gitlin on the internet. After 10 minutes of reviewing my medical records and my exam, he had a diagnosis of NASH. He has always been professional, compassionate , and takes time to explain what's going on with my condition. He is truly a godsend for his patients. Atlanta is extremely fortunate to have him !

Would never see this doctor if he were the only one left! He is the most arrogant doctor I have ever met! He did a liver biopsy on me and was training someone then. The student said he didn't think it was a good biopsy and the so called "great doctor" said it was fine. Needless to say, it was a bad biopsy! Some may like him, but my opinion is he is horrible!

I have been a patient since 2004 and owe so much to Dr. Gitlin and Cathy. After being told by another Dr. (And being sick for a year) to come back in six months he didn't think I had a liver problem, that the high numbers were probably a fluke, I made an appt with Dr. Gitlin. Immediately upon seeing me he said he could point to several markers that were evident of liver disease and we needed to do a biopsy. There was indeed something going on, PBC and Autoimmune Hepatitis. Treatment was started and I have had 8 years of almost normal health! I appreciate and trust Dr. Gitlin...I just wish he could practice for forever.

I have a rare and sometimes difficult to diagnose liver disorder. I am fairly young (38 now, 31 when this all came to pass) and was understandably frightened to be found in liver failure for four months (jaundiced, etc.) with a toddler and unable to return to my middle school classroom to teach until a diagnosis and prognosis was made. Having gone to 3 physicians before being referred to Dr. Gitlin, he was finally able make a diagnosis of Autoimmune Hepatitis. He and his PA Cathey Williams are awesome! My husband and I, not to mention my now 9 year old daughter, do not know how we could have made it without them. We are thankful for his expertise and caring bedside manner. He is a Godsend! I easily could recommend Dr. Gitlin to anyone with liver issues. He is knowledgeable, and should be a recognized authority in hepatology. He is hands down the best specialist in the South!
