Dr. Norman Alan Gollub, MD

I have been taking my 3 children to Dr. Gollub for over 20 years. He is the only Dr. that my 14 has seen, and my adult children (22 & 21) saw him most of their lives. I'm not sure why he is getting such mediocre reviews because I think he is one of the best pediatricians I have ever met. After boucing around trying to find a decent doctor for my older 2 kids, we finally discovered Dr. gollub when my kids were approx 6 and 7. I have found him to be honest and caring, and my kids love him. We've had a few health problems including a traumatic one for my 14 year old and Dr. Gollub provided good follow up care, and helped my son to understand his health condition and even helped him to not be afraid of it. I would highly recommend Dr. Gollub to anyone looking for a caring, honest doctor for their kids.The worst part about him is that Sharp Rees Steely packs his schedule with patients and he's almost always running a few (10) minutes late. It's worth it to me.

I hand selected this doctor as my child's doctor before my child had even been conceived. My child was born in 2002 and after complaining for over 3 years to Dr. Gollub- Pediatrician, Dr. Mehl - Neurologist, and Dr. Benz - Ent, all Sharp physicians, that something was wrong with my child, it was the San Diego Unified School District that eventually found my son to be hearing impaired when he was just over 5 years old. Although hearining impairment was suspected, Dr. Gollubs nurse failed to adequately administer adioligic testing when my son was 3 years old and noted that my son had passed the hearing exam she administered. Dr. Gollub made a note, unknown to me at the time, to schedule further testing however drop the ball and no further testing was provided. Although Newborn Hearing Screenings was just a few months shy of being mandated when my son was born, a large number of selected newbors were being tested. Unfortunately my son was amongst the selected group. Prior to my sons… diagnoses, instead of providing the care that my insurance paid for, we were dumped over to government funded health programs to receive futher help. Unfortunately, these programs drop the ball as well. It is my opinion that my son, being African American, was profiled and placed in a category where being African American and having a developmental delay was normal. Newborn Hearing Screenings is the law! Please make sure your child gets the screening. Not being able to hear for over 5 years is missed information that is very hard to get back.
