Dr. Norman Eugene Mccoomer, MD

I have nothing but high praise for Dr McCoomer and his staff at the albertville clinic.. he has been treating me for the past two years and I must say that out of the many doctors I have seen through the VA community care program he is the best ..I highly recommend him for your pain management needs.

Dr McCoomer is a very nice and personable doctor that seems to care, when you see him. Mostly you will only see him 2 to 3 times a year. Expect to wait an hour or more past your appointment time, every time. Also expect to have medical procedures pushed on you constantly. Injections (lidocaine) mostly. Even if you don’t feel like you need the procedure and even if it never helps, you must consent to have them.

Dr. McCoomer is an excellent and very kind and personable physician. He is always professional. He has treated me for over ten years and I wouldn’t ever see anyone else. He is double board certified in his profession. He has definitely helped me with my chronic pain issues and his approach to injection treatment is outstanding. He looks at the entire picture of your condition and makes a perfect plan of care for each individual. His injection theraphy has been an amazing asset to give me quality of life. He and his staff are all very kind and compassionate. I would and do recommend Dr. McCoomer to all of my friends or family that are having any kind of issues that might require his expertise. Exceptional and brilliant physician.

Filing a complaint with Alabama Board of Medicine after what he and his staff did. Abusive and unprofessional .

Dr McCoomer has given me relief from severe back pain not only with medication but with procedures and continued monthly visits with his care and compassion I highly recommend his expertise in pain management.

As another reviewer stated, his staff made a mistake on a refill which also happened to me, I was not able to get (it was due and on time and pre approved) staff was rude and wouldn’t even let me speak. I left without the prescription. Didn’t want to aurgue. Poor one start staff. Poor attitudes.

If you’re looking for someone to see indefinitely, he’s fine. But if you want to get problems corrected as a way to get out of pain, he is not.

These doctors work under constant government surveillance due to the opiod crisis. Dr. McCoomer is a quiet man, who is a good listener. The more I get to know him, the more I respect him. I would advise anyone trying to cope with serious pain to see him.

The office staff made a mistake (which amounted to me being unable to get my pain meds in a timely manner when I needed them, causing me undue pain), when I called them on it, the office manager absolutely denied making it. So, I spoke to Dr McCoomer about it. He told me that his staff doesn’t make mistakes and that I was wrong and that I could just leave his practice. And they still had the nerve to charge my insurance for the last visit, even thought all he did was argue with me. I would not recommend them.
