I brought my special needs, non-verbal child to Trinity Urgent Care because he wasn’t feeling well. After waiting over an hour, we were seen by Dr. Salem, who displayed arrogance and disregarded my son’s condition. He prescribed Amoxicillin without proper examination or testing, despite my inquiry about his diagnosis, which he suggested could be a virus or sinus infection. When I requested an upper respiratory panel, he refused, claiming they didn’t perform such tests at their facility. This is utterly unacceptable! Every urgent care should conduct basic testing to accurately diagnose patients. Instead, Dr. Salem performed a Covid swab and dismissed the matter. A month later, my non-verbal child, who couldn’t communicate his discomfort, developed RSV that progressed into a bacterial pneumonia, nearly requiring hospitalization. This unfortunate outcome could have been prevented with proper testing and the appropriate antibiotics (azithromycin). I urge you to demonstrate more empathy… towards patients. If you lack this compassion, consider ceasing practice and prioritizing the safety of children.
