Dr. Novelette Elvia Thompson, MD

Dr. Thompson is a wonderful doctor and is very knowledgeable and caring. I have been her patient for years. She helps me to manage my Type 1 diabetes. She listens to me and understands me inside and out and I just love her. I live in Lake Worth and I drive to Ft. Lauderdale every 3 months to see her. I would never change.

Hard to get appointments, but she's terrific.

I wish I could give a review, but I can't get an appointment to see her. Invariably, every time I get close, a call comes from her staff telling me they have to move my appointment to two months away. I have been moved 5 times! I will have to redo my blood for it to be useful for my appointment which I may get in a year! Absolutely disgusting! I would never ever see this doctor. If she runs her office like this, I can imagine how she treats you when you finally get there!

Hard to get an appt. 6 mo. wait time... very thorough, not in a rush, answers questions, great bed-side manner. Diagnosis on point.

I used to go to another doctor there 13 years ago but the nurse never returned calls and when i had a true health crisis i was totally ignored because the nurse never returned my call so when i ended up in the emergency room i knew even though the doctor was good it did me no good and moved to someone who cared enough about his patients to have a good staff. Now i need a specialist and remembered Dr T so i called for an appointment which was my first mistake , I thought surely the staff had to have changed and they did. They are now all rude and extremely unprofrssional. I was told years ago by the other doctor there that they too were unhappy about some of the staff but they came out os a staff pool so they had to take the staff they got and i have had issues with other holy cross med group offices as far as competency goes but there is something seriously wrong with THAT office for the level of mismanagement and treatment of patients. Thankfully I am not that sick and Dr T. is not… the only doctor in town because I clearly saw no one in that office cares about the patient or their practice enough to run an office because if they did it would not be in this shape for so many years.

After the disaster of even trying to make an appointment with this doctor I can say that I will seek elsewhere to be treated. The woman who schedules appointments takes "being rude" to a whole new level in a matter of minutes. You only get one first impression and this one was far from favorable.

I have been seeing Dr. Thompson for 2 years for a thyroid and pituitary tumor. I believe Dr. Thompson is an adequate physician, but her staff's lack of due diligence will now prompt me to seek a new endocrinologist. I do not understand why a nurse cannot return a patients' call after leaving messages multiple times. It is completely disrespectful and inconsiderate. I have had to call and request prescriptions be faxed to my pharmacy multiple times because they never respond to a fax request for verification. It's just ridiculous and frustrating to always have to be following up with the nurse and staff. I have never written a review of any doctor and feel very strongly about the incompetence of Dr. Thompson's staff, which has lead to my horrible experience with this office.

My experience overall with this doctor was traumatizing.First, the staff is very unprofessional, misplacing my paperwork more than once. The nurse was very rude and inattentive. She never even looked in my eyes and was very short in her answers.The doctor sent me out for blood tests with the wrong prescription. I had to come back to her office and waited for 30 min and she did not see me or corrected her error. The nurse knew I was there waiting but kept on ignoring me. I had to leave empty-handed. Not too long ago I needed to have tooth surgery and my dentist gave her a call to ask if I could take certain medication and she was very rude and arrogant to him. She said that she is a "specialist", not a "primary doctor".I have been treating with her for about 4 months, so how can she not give him this information??? I was so embarrassed.I've never had such bad experience anywhere, specially from a doctor. Luckly I found another doctor and hope to never have to go thru this again.

I was found to have a lump on my thyroid - I had a biopsy which was inconclusive. I worked with Dr. Thompson on making a decision to remove my thyroid. Thank god we did. It turned our the lump was benign, but beyond the lump in the back there were cancer cells found. It could have remained there and continued to grow with inconclusive biopsies. Dr. Thompson is conservative with her treatment, and has also been working with me on controlling my pre diabetic condition.

I had a thyroid lump biopsied and it was inconclusive. Recommendation was to remove 1/2 of the thyroid. I was told lumps NEVER reduce or go away. At best, it would remain the same size. I tried a more holistic, non risky approach and in 8 months it's significantly reduced in size with no recommendation for removal. It's just too easy to reach for the scalpel these days and NODULES
