Dr. Odile Kamanzi, MD

great doctor!

Dr. Kamanzi is my 18-year-old daughter's primary care physician. When my daughter, who is attending college almost 3,000 miles from home, called Dr. Kamanzi's office numerous times leaving a message each time, none of her calls were returned. After multiple tries over a two week period, she finally reached a live person and asked to make an appointment. She was told she would need to see an Ob/Gyn which is fine, however, when my daughter asked for a couple of doctors' names who they trusted or could recommend, she was told to "look it up on the Internet". This is an 18-year-old who is very far from home, nervous, and unsure of how to navigate the healthcare system and this is the best this office can do? Is it really too much to provide a couple of gynecologists names to one of your patients? I find this unacceptable.

Severe lack of experience that puts patients at risk. She is either unable or unwilling to spend time being a good diagnostician. It is like talking to a deer frozen in car headlights. I presented with a persistent cough way over a year ago. After a negative lung x-ray, she prescribed Flonase. It is sold over the counter I later realized. It did nothing. Referral to a pulmonary dr was un-necessary because while waiting for this appt, I ended up in ER with severe chest pain, and where - after an x-ray there it was revealed I had a problem with my esophagus: possibly “aesthma of the gut” aka EOE. And I didn’t need a pulmonary specialist but a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis. EOE is Eosinophilic Esophagitis. Today after having this persistent cough for long over a year and seen Dr Kamanzi about it twice, the additional symptoms I have now hurt! I have a gastrointologist at MGH where I’m now going to with severe anxiety. My persistent cough so many or all of the… symptoms of EOE, these are also symptoms of esophical cancer. For me, over the past 1-1/2 years, Odile Kamanzi has done nothing, absolutely nothing. She did not do dillegence in getting to the bottom of my problem. Now I may have an even worse condition. She also knows I have severe anxiety so you’d think she’d at least do something else besides send me off to see the wrong specialist. Dr Kamanzi is supposed to be an Internal Medicine doctor. My experiences with her over this cough, tell me she is poorly qualified to be any kind of doctor. Despite her impressive education. For Dr Kamanzi’s level of responsibility and work load, 5 years experience is way too little. I’m not ready to die from esophageal cancer, throat cancer, or even asthma of the gut.
